Apparently a supercell erupted in Nottingham causing flash flooding. Comes from this page, doubt it was a supercell, this particular organisation seems to make stuff up for likes on Facebook.

Looking back at previous radar loops, certainly wasn't supercellic (is that a word?) in nature.

Any thoughts on whether the line of showers in east Anglia could develop further or not?

Dying out on the latest radar now, I think its game over for me. Maybe some light show in the east again tonight.

I'm not even bothering to look at any forecasts now, they've been utterly wrong - the silly numpty on the BBC was STILL wittering on about rain and TS this evening, anyone with half a brain can see what's happening. Why is the far east so difficult to forecast for? The only thing they get right is coastal clag.....

Some slow but impressive convection here with a massive development just to our west. It's showing light/ moderate precip on the radar. Is this where the convergence zone from the onshore breeze will come into play and intensify this potential storm i wonder? The local and national BBC forecast showed a real soaking for us overnight but iv'e struggled to see where this would come from up until now.

Good Point!  Where is the eastern soaking going to come from!?

Another short shower just then, but much heavier than the last one. Another one starting now.

Get rid of that amber alert and put it where it actually matters ie Eastern England and Scotland.

Any chance of why not ? Would love to hear your thoughts, have seen some pictures floating around facebook and if it wasnt then I need to re-evaluate pretty much all the HP Supercells I have seen over the last 10 years.

Its always very difficult to predict in these situations but im always amazed how they never manage to keep up with the latest. A bit of nowcasting wouldn't hurt sometimes

What a disappointing day. Promised much when I got up before five but the storm was duly shredded by shield. The next back had everything but rain stripped out and the evening stuff was sucked up by the Nottingham cell. So one weak thundery shower one heavy rain shower then distant thunder and mostly light rain then light rain again but no thunder.
