Yep

Hence the Urgent nature of my calling for anyone east of there, it's bad luck on Sheffield as this Supercell is right moving effectively and hit the brakes around Nottingham throwing weaker parts north towards Sheffield whilst the Storm ingests all that rich air to its south east, if there is a sea breeeze boundary in that area it could go even more nuts as it heads towards the Coast!

Fantastic

That would be the ideal location, should be something huge to your west Posted Image

Well, I think it's time I just admit defeat and realise that there is no chance in hell of a storm ever occurring here for as long as I shall live.

Maybe you need to move to costa del storms in kent? ;) its not the greatest there either, i lived there for ten years until may this year we had almost nothing apart from one storm when i first moved there that was quite mad..... Todays storm in glossop was best ive seen in quite a few years but it wasnt that severe....

Also looking at increasing activity over Southern Scotland firing up on this quick loop.

First lightning of the day here, preceeded and followed by some immense downpours.

Caught the skies before they greyed out nice cloudscape.

Massive tail off in activity now down from 250 strikes a minute 20 minutes ago to 32. Looks like our friend maybe finally running out of energy.

Paul how far north is it now? I've got some photos but the train isn't ideal. It must be 10km to my SW. I might do better from Lincoln in the car.

The storm over notts taking a more easterly turn and continuing to expand in core-size as it does so.

I can hear thunder in the distance from that area to the North-east of Nottingham but unfortunately theres absolutely nothing to see as the onshore breeze is just flattening everything out.

We've not had a single storm yet here with only 1.4mm of rain so far in the last 24 hours.

This permanent onshore breeze has been a pain in the backside throughout this entire spell.

Anyone know what are the chances of the formation over North Yorks developing into something more interesting ???

That Notts/Lincs system looks insane !!

Top part is level with Lincoln now just to Lincolns West, dont think the view from Lincoln would be that good, Sleaford would have the best view looking North West into the action area.

Feeling totally peed off as again been a let down here. Had 1 clap of thunder this morning at 6.20am and everywhere to the east of us were covered in strikes on the radar!! It's looked stormy all day and very humid but not even 1 drop of rain. So disappointed!!

You're right as I'm passing just to the east of it now. It's enormous. I've got a few pics I'll forward. No rain or hail but thunder and lightning frequent. Looked like some slight lowering or maybe scud clouds to the southern edge but didn't pick out any obvious rotation.

Yep complete let down. Seems to have been the 'Nottingham show' over the past 24 hours. I'm looking at that flooding in Nottingham in disbelief as the ground is baked solid here.
