Yep complete let down. Seems to have been the 'Nottingham show' over the past 24 hours. I'm looking at that flooding in Nottingham in disbelief as the ground is baked solid here.

Well it rained early this morning about 5-6am quite heavily but when I got I'm from work today at 6pm the ground is bone dry again. I want a big storm!! Not fair lol

Saturday night into Sunday is being picked up as another potential plume event now. Another event to be shunted east then! Feel like I'm wishing my life away waiting for a storm. Great pics btw dapick.

The sound of thunder in the distant is becoming as common as the sound of traffic now.

Another disappointing day here, got briefly excited when the amber warning was issued this afternoon but should have known better nothing ever goes to plan in this part of the country! :(

I think that is the second time this year that our region was put under an amber warning and it turned into a dud. Mid January was the other one, although they changed it near to the time.

I share your frustration I really do, this is exactly the reason I hate summer we never get the storms in our neck of the woods. Roll on Autumn & Winter at least we get our fair share of snowfall.

It was clear from the various output though that it'd be further east that got the most energetic storms. I don't understand why that warning was implemented in the first place.

If they issue an amber anywhere else in the country its a sure thing, when they issue one here you disbelieve until you actually see it with your own eyes.

It would be interesting to see a chart mapping accumulated lightning strikes over the past 2-3 years. I have my suspicions over the distribution of them.

I really hope you get one soon. That storm shield can't stay strong forever.

Well it must have been for a reason, the people who issue these warnings supposedly know their stuff.

I was chasing the, lets call it the Nottingham cell, from Belper through Whatstandwell, Crich and onto Chesterfield where I lost it because of traffic.

Lots of quiet thunder from it but very little visible lightning, although saw a small number of flashes. Rain rates were very strong with flooding around, especially in Chesterfield (helping to stop me being able to get after it anymore).

Strangest thing was that the storm was moving NE but there were clouds being almost sucked into it - moving E to W, complete opposite direction to the storm. Definite signs of rotation in it.

Pity I lost it but the cloud motions were awesome :)

Calm after the storm now, though still muggy and heavy skies. Not surprised at the amount of flooding, the rain seriously came down - I now have a leaking conservatory roof :( Nottinghamshire certainly has been the place to be over the past 24hrs!

If took my Bolteks out and smashed them to bits as a sacrifice would that do the trick?
