Steady rain here in Surbiton, not poked head outside yet.

Just got back from 35 degrees in Cyprus yesterday, optimistic for maintaining the tan, but such hopes dashed for today at least. BBC weather just showed some very heavy stuff if the rain stalls over any of our locations as according to their graphics it seems to be moving at a snail's pace (which I read on the plane coming back is as much as one metre per hour!) .

Morning.

Not the intense rain shown on many models overnight (thank goodness) but continual since around midnight and still very warm, making it feel like an Amazonian forest here in Sussex:

I'll do a round up in the convective thread specifically for today's potential.

Morning K!

Yes sorry about that, should have put a warning on first. Looks like more Southern area in for the chance of that thunderstorm activity, nice to hear that Guenhwyvar has already experienced something today.

Looks like the rain over Kent/Sussex is turning showery.

Could get interesting soon.

Still muggier than a craft fair selling mugs.

So anyway, (io) attraversero!

Quite a bit of rain overnight but no thunder so Chislehurst Old Brontophobics Radical Action contingency plan not needed, after all.

Looking like the S and E of our region will continue to be plagued by rain into the early hours of tomorrow morning, then an improving picture.

BH Monday looking fine now, perhaps an isolated shower, around the region. Temps around mid 20s in the west of the region but cooler further east, with a stiffish breeze from the NE.

Looking further ahead, becoming cloudy on Tues, as fronts encroach from the NW but only a little rain, if any, likely, as pressure remains relatively high.

Thereafter fine and becoming warmer again, as a ridge from an area of high pressure builds in, from the SW.

Overnight model runs suggesting, once again, that we could indeed be entering a protracted fine, very warm spell, that could take us well into the first week of Sept and possibly beyond? Lets hope so.

Regards,

Tom.

Woke up to a huge crash of lightning, and torrential rain as well, stopped now but it's pretty dramatic out there this morning.

It's not getting any further East along the coast yet though :(

Good morning Robin. I hope we do get something as I have put off a trip to Southampton today because of the forecast. We shall see.

To stay for the potential thunderstorm or just avoid the awful trip in the rain?

Bit of both really as the dogs aren't keen on the rumbles and as it's school holidays we tend to use back roads to avoid nightmare that is the A27 at this time of year.

That was some rain! I thought it couldn't get heavier then BOOM!  I happen to be sitting in a conservatory with a plastic roof so it was very dramatic.  Scary even :)
