Hi Lauren, Sorry, I had a nightmare tracking all those posts back on the archived Regional threads but I'll put you in and update the list, thanks. Tom.

Don't apologise! You do a great job with this.

Morning all, can't say I would be too sorry to see nothing in the way of settling snow this week as I have to travel to Droitwich on Wednesday as my daughter has her graduation Ceremony in Worcester Cathedral on Thursday morning. Hope the heating is on in the CathedralPosted Image . Wouldn't mind seeing the odd flake (don't tell the wife I said that)Posted Image

Looking to the week after most models show some cold charts, be it high pressure to the west, north, north-east or of course over the top of us, just the usual FI winter drama.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Have a nice dayPosted Image

I really need it not to snow at the end of next week, I have to attend something that is non refundable even if the weather is bad.

Hi Tom,

looks like the snow cup has morphed into the 1st round of the FA CupPosted Image

If GFS is right you might have to base in on the amount of sunshine or density of fog.Posted Image

Good luck, you're a star or quite possibly mad, sorting that lot out!Posted Image

I think on current probability you'll be Ok Lauren, more so in the East of our region.

Thanks to all those of you that have entered this morning, I've put you in the updated groups.

Just waiting to hear from Chris (Mantle) to discuss the format for the competition. My thoughts now are to split the North Thames region into 2 groups alphabetically, the same for the South Thames region. Your snow depths to be accumulated, say f.e up to the end of January. With the remainder of the competition, looking something like this for the rest of the snow season, perhaps?

Match 1. North Thames (Group 1) Winner v South Thames (Group 2)Winner.

Match 2. South Thames (Group 1) Winner v North Thames (Group 2) Winner.

Grand Final - Winner Match 1 v Winner Match 2. (Which will decide the overall winner for the SE Region.)

Would suggest the cut-off point for entering the competition this weekend at some point, so Chris and I can enter everyone onto spreadsheets. But will discuss all the above with Chris first, before deciding on the way forward.

Regards,

Tom.

Hi JennyJane1,

The air inside a tornado is cooler than its surroundings. This is not due to the wind or the fact that it comes from the sky, but from the fact that the pressure in a tornado is low. As air enters a tornado it is decompressed rapidly, and cools as a consequence. This is predicted by gas laws. In many cases the temperature inside a tornado is less than the dew point, which is why the funnel forms.

Regards, Yamkin

thanks Yamkin.

Im chortling here at the contradictions we express - we all want the snow to come but then start thinking - oh, hold on Ive got to go and see Auntie Galdys/ go Chistmas Shopping/ go to a conference/ see some clients/ the school might be closed/ get to work and the trains wont work/ the council wont grit the road properly/ might go out and fall over/ go to work and not get back/ crash the car/ fall off my bike/ get stuck in the pub for two weeks/ get stuck in Tescos -  the possibilities for calamaty are endless. Bring it on Posted Image

Posted Image  Nice eye candy, but will it really bring that much?

Other versions of the latest GFS show it less intense:

You'll have to be up early to catch it, but I'll take the NW version as a preference please.

Morning all. Well damp and dreary here today much like yesterday. So looking forward to this cold snap and some brighter days than I have had of late.

Morning SQ1, have you started warming up the offices at SACRA central yet?
