I think as ever people will just have to agree to disagree with one another on the global warming debate.

Mr P and I were there a couple of weeks ago - it was high teens low 20s :-)Have you been before - where are you staying ?

Been about 7 times before and in Puerto Del Carmen again.

Just hoping the weather calms down here for when I return! Birling Gap looks so bad and it is one of my favorite beaches here :(

And I'll be there in a fortnight too, hopefully.

Been about 7 times before and in Puerto Del Carmen again.

Hope you both have a wonderful time - I love the island and can't wait to get back there - mr P and I have already looked at the possibility of going again in the autumn if the price is right :-)

Rubbish.

fantastic input Posted Image

Its just brilliant when people bury their head in the ground and refuse to acknowledge the scientific facts

So because there is a potential frost and a warning of ice tonight there is no global warming or climate chage taking place

Just amazing logic

I'm not sure of the geography of areas of london but friends there have said that if the thames barrier is raised and the water gets high enough, they will be flooded out with the runoff.

that  cant  be  good  news i see all  the reporters  are  now along  the  Thames  they talking  about miles  could  be  under water  very  soon

oh shame.I only knew about this because Southernman told me after Id struggled with the keyboard for ages and had to rephrase everything so as not to use the missing letters, which made it look like English wasnt a language I was very familiar with!

I think people living near the Thames have to accept the inevitable now, there will be severe flooding. This week is yet another incredibly wet week, there will not be enough time for the river levels to subside, even though there's a couple of dry(ish) days ahead.

Not impressed by the Countryfile Forecast just now tbh. Posted Image

It's obvious that the current main issue is likely to be where heavy rain might fall, but to completely ignore any potential strong wind concerns, from the low crossing the country on Wednesday, was pretty poor imho.

Maybe the Countryfile Forecast is following the main BBC forecasts in becoming dumbed down and patronising? A huge shame if so.

- Datchet
- Friday Island to Magna Carta Island
- Old Windsor
- Wraysbury
- Horton
- Salt Moor and North Moor
- A361 East Lyng to Burrowbridge
- Runnymede Pleasure Grounds
- Staines
- Penton Hook
- Laleham
- Hamm Court
- Chertsey
- Littleton Lane
- Shepperton Lock
- Egham

Flood Advice: 0845 988 1188

"River levels on the Thames are very high and still rising. A Severe Flood Warning is now in force as river levels will continue to rise for at least 24 hours and are forecast to be higher than those experienced in 2003 on the Thames. Widespread property flooding is expected in the area and disruption to local infrastructure is possible. The Environment Agency and its partners will update this message as the situation changes."

Thank you JJ for the post of the evening - I just read that out to mr P who nearly choked on his cup of tea - I really needed a laugh tonight and your post has made me realise why I enjoy hosting this regional thread so much :-)

Let me give you an example.

I couldn't say "I read your post about porridge and the problem you had trying to buy it in the supermarket"

I had to say something along the lines of "I read what you wrote about the hot oats and how difficult it was to buy it at your grocery store".

Just made me sound like an American.

Crikey! This looks horrific. It's very frightening and my thoughts are with the people who live and work in these areas..
