Much needed rain this side of the Pennines this morning. But we still need more for the reservoirs and the land.

It's still none too mild at 9.3C
Almost 20mm of rain now and through the day that has been very heavy showers - tending to overwhelm surface drains.

Very heavy showers late morning, early afternoon before clearing towards dusk.

All in all a poor day but pretty well spot on to what was forecast.

Not a bad start to the day but if things go as forecast, it's down hill from here with plenty of rain about later.

Yesterday's wet few hours dropped 16mm so today's will only add to what is becoming quite a soggy spell of weather.

Dry morning.

Rain set in here now and on the cool side.

As for the talk of colder weather on the way, the signals are there that northern blocking may be a feature this winter with the chances of

colder and possibly snowy spells as early as the end of November but the immediate future looks more wet than white.

Lets face it though, after last winters miserable attempt at being seasonal, even an average one would be gladly accepted by most on this site.

Any ideas as to what av for tea

Life is full of big decisions.

But that's an easy one for us.

Saturday is chicken night and it's only a choice of what to make it as that's to think about.

Fancy home made southern fried really but I'll see later.

Anyway it's still raining so looks like a wet afternoon at football coming up.

Horrible, wet evening.

Just glad I'm way past enjoying or enduring fireworks although judging by the noise, there must be lot of wet people out there.

Cloud readily breaking now and the sun starting to show through.

Hopefully the showers will keep away and give us a decent remembrance Sunday's weather.

sunny out but chilly.

Sorted my tea out the other night I ended up with salt and pepper chips from the Chinese...wow never had them before but they were the best.

Endless showers with odd rumble of thunder .....

Dry day here, felt cold though even in the sunshine.

Certainly more seasonal now than the endless mild crap from a couple of weeks back.
