Yeah the NW has done brilliant again this year. This has been another dismal winter ref snow on the east side of ireland. cannot wait to see the back of winter this year and maybe get lucky next year. Roll on Summer. Thank god im hitting the ski slopes next year to see proper snow!

Woke up to a dusting this morning which was nearly all gone by mid morning. I must have had about 15 dustings or so since Dec 2010 id say,really hope next winter i get a snow cover with decent depth.

A great event here in the north west and has been snowing hard for the past hour and radar looking good! Had a great morning out with my wee boy!

A few pics from the Galtees today.

 

There wasn't much snow until about 5-600m, but the drifts were quite deep, upward of 3ft in several areas.

 

 

 

There were some pretty cool icicles about

 

 

 

Snowy cliffs!

 

 

 

You could see the raised foot prints left by the people that had climbed in the last few days. As the boots compress the snow, it becomes more resistant to the wind. So the wind blows away all the surrounding snow, leaving foot prints about 2 inches off the ground.

 

 

 

There were some pretty cool patterns in the snow, whipped up by the winds.

There were some interesting ice patterns on the rocks.

Great pics. Patchy snow cover today has almost all dissappeared now. Above 150-170m was still completely white at dusk this evening.
