30.4c in Darlington

HOT HOT HOT

:D

Is that well shielded?

I'm not surprised though, it was 26.3C here at 4pm (Davis with fan)

That's the warmest day since 27/6/2011 when we touched 28.7C

Still quite windy with it from the south, probably a bit of foehn here too from that way.

Ok, who's sick joke is this? Bloody awful weather. :p

In all seriousness, as lovely as the dry skies are - the heat is unbearable and hard to enjoy. Was quite amused by everybody buying those four packs of 2L water bottles in asda this morning that nobody would look at the rest of the year. Use your stained glass windowing taps.

Jeez, oh so sensitive swear filter even responds to irish cussing. Crikey,

No storms today,but what a beautiful summer's evening. :)

Could be a bit different tomorrow evening though. :bomb:

European Storm Forecast Experiment - ESTOFEX

Went over to the Cheviots, got a suntan..!! Hot at 26℃ at our destination in Northumberland. There was cloud development but only around mid levels these being mostly cumulus castellanus and small groups of cumulus congestus  no surface based convection and very hazy.  Could be a day to remember tomorrow with a level2 issued by ESTOFEX, but as they say its all depended on certain factors coming into play capping and nothing to help upward motion being greatest concern for storm initiation but if temperatures at the surface get up into the mid to upper 20's then there's a chance it will go bang especially as upper temps cool slightly during the late evening into the night. Its not a dead cert for sure but whilst the potential exists then i'm happy to watch this unfold.

What's people's thoughts today on the storm risk looks to have disappeared to me, west coast looks prime for storms but us on the east miss out

Vast amounts of energy available for any storms that do get going today so things will happen fast if the fuse can be lit.

I wonder if any part of the region can reach the magic 90f today?

My money is on SS's back garden. :D

28.3C here in Newton Aycliffe with the breeze really picking up.

That might put paid to the temperature climbing higher.

It's almost like a wave of heat has pushed up from the south on that breeze, in minutes. I'm watching the Durham Council weather stations website, and could literally see the temperatures rising at the same rate all over, with the stations a few miles north lagging behind and then catching up!

The nearest one to me is Bradbury, about 4 miles north of me, and at 12.50 it was recording 29.4, and those Vaisala roadside weather stations are obviously very accurate.

I'm at 29.7 now.

Even Tow Law over 1,000ft up in the Pennines was 26.1 at 12.40 and up to 27.4 by 12.50 as the warmth sweeps through there.

Booom!

30.0ºC

Only the 4th time I've ever recorded such a temperature in 12 years, and it's only just gone 1pm.

Previous top 3 temperatures, all from July 2006....30.3, 30.1, and 30.0.

The storms can do one, I want a BBQ later!

Impressive temperatures! I'm heading West to Waskerley soon for a walk on the moors which might become a storm chase. Nice to see showers developing already further south and some already popping up around the Pennines. Could get tasty later :)
