Here we go again.

Eyes down for another 4 months of will it won't it in the North West.

Lamp posts are ready for watching, Di Oxberry is primed with her "at least our region missed the snow currently effecting all other parts of the country" statement.

Prozac is at hand.

Emergency chairs have been dusted down for when the promise of a flake or two brings loyal members flocking to the forum.

All we need now is the type of winter most on here want rather than the one currently on offer.

Hi all , ready for some winter fun , now our thread is back !!!:).....

Lets hope that it's a wintry and packed thread rather than mild and tumbleweed city.

Personally I think that this winter will deliver enough in the way of snow to keep interest going although after last winter, an early morning dusting and a couple of ice days would be an improvement.

Hope so ,last winter produced 1 hour of sleet ,got my snow fix in the Canary Islands off all places ,high up of course !!!!....

We managed a couple of cm's early one morning in mid November and then not a flake afterwards so in effect an entire winter without lying snow at 1000ft ASL.

Oh and only a handful of frosts.

A good winter for stuffing the energy companies, but little else to cheer.

The irony though was that temperatures were never that mild, certainly IMBY, just the wrong side of marginal and a couple of degrees less could have easily turned a wet winter into a white one.

Wind has seriously picked up here, very exposed to Southern aspects. Finally managed to coax the woodburner into life, room's a bit smokey but it's warming up!

A couple of showers over the last hour or so but other than that and a gusty wind it's not been a bad day.
