quick question for you guys who know Oldham well! I'm driving up from Crawley tomorrow morning early to pick up a car from a dealer around 9am ish, based on the warning given, is Oldham prone to accumulations of snow? Just wondering what time to leave! Thinking around 4am

Yes Snow can Accumulate in Oldham quiet readily when areas just to the west get only rain.........

Looking at what is being forecast you shouldn't have to many issues, but bear in mind Oldham is quite diverse with some areas over 200m ASL and other areas only 150M ASL.....

Keep an eye on this thread

(Snowing lightly ATM no accumulations as of yet)

Showers are starting to turn to snow now. xc weather says it's 5c but I'm really doubting that.

Yeh all looks marginal again doesn't it, M6 looks to be the boundry again as is so often the case. Anything east of it snow, anything west sleet/rain/hail

Defo three points needed tonight, not the same team as last season but still a tough game, 2-1 good shout, worth a fiver!

Go for a double 2-1 and 3 inches of snow :) 10,000 - 1

What area of Oldham?, some areas are really hilly plus areas right in the pennines still have Oldham addresses, this is because the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham covers a wider area than just the town itself, some areas are near to 1000ft and can have really big drifts.

10 years of being here that MOD thread is just insane.

I think people are actually crying at their computers because it's not snowing in the SE.

It's quite bizarre.

They are a very sad bunch of people. Stay in here.

If it's snow in Liverpool it will definitely be snow where you are

I am VERY pleased to post, that after a torrential hail shower. I can now report moderate falling snow in Runcorn with some nice sized flakes :)

More hopeful for tonight if precipitation is turning to snow this early. I really need to stop trusting the BBC. These are the same people who forecast 4oC and heavy rain on boxing day and instead I got 0oC and heavy snow with 2 inches of accumulated snow.

Looking forward to the next 5 days. Wish I had a bit more elevation, however as a few have said M6 east = snow line. Chorley may be far enough east to just make it.

I'm a bit lost now with the MOD thread. 24hrs ago we were in prime position for a good slider, is that still the case on Tuesday? If so we seem to be in a great position.

Best to ignore the majority of the stuff that's being posted in there at the moment to be honest. Someone's let the kindergarten's onto their PC's.

It's such a volatile situation that nobody knows where it will snow yet, best to wait until Sunday 18Z to have a decent grasp.
