Heavy rain, started to ease off a little, thought the thundestorm was over, but as I type the biggest flash and rumble heard so far, cracked out in the leaden grey skies. :D

Morning all

We had fog this morning but it is now lifting and the sun is coming through. There were a few rumbles of thunder last night and we had heavy rain for 2-3 hours, and I think rain during the night as it is still damp this morning.

It feels very muggy indoors but fresher outside, yesterday was a real killer humidity wise.

Dull with coastal low cloud. Again. As on every day since I came back from France.

There were a few rumbles of thunder this morning (at least I got a storm, I suppose) but you couldn't see anything of the storm because there was thick sea fog. No rain (except coastal drizzle)

Supposedly, this region of Tyneside has been "very lucky" because it "missed the worst of the thundery weather", according to popular opinion. "Who cares that we haven't had more than an hour of sun on any of the last seven days (probably more), at least we missed the worst of the thunder", seems to be the common philosophy.

It often seems to me that many people would be quite happy to have a year completely devoid of sunshine, if it meant not having any thunderstorms, snow events or convective showery days. OK, maybe an exaggeration, but maybe not far off the truth.

With south-easterlies set to prevail for a while, current conditions here are expected not to change.
