Let's hope precip breaks out more widely and further east in the next few hours as the models suggest.

Looks pretty much identical to the forecast on the BBC I just watched. Storms in the S spreading N & E into Scotland and NE England

Nothing on the radar tracking towards Exeter yet...very humid here so surely that's a sign, hope we get torrential rain and lightening etc

Not that many (most?) of us were expecting things to go to plan, but, as far as i can tell, things are definitely not going the way of the NMM.

I'm in the same trail of thought Karl - models seem to want to develop storms a bit North of here before really coming to life...but the skies certainly look thundery moving in.

Still waiting, but likely to head to Lincs (I realise that is much closer for me than you!). I'm getting the feeling that east will be best going by the latest output. There will be surprises though, there always are!

Check out that Plymouth cell has sprung to life! Also maybe something off the coast of Plymouth too?

Some cloud no idea what it is

its basically just water vapour which has condensed to form what we weather-types call "clouds" as you have correctly identified.

or cotton wool. possibly...

what are thunder spots?

large blobs of rain - most likely remnants of ice/hail at cloud level

Remembering 17th July last year when the radar was clear around this time then numerous storms erupted from the South coast soon after 22.00 .

Ha, a fellow Bucks resident. The rebellion brewery is over Marlow way right? Few pints of rebellion and a storm on the cards eh?

Masses of cells and thunder spots all over the south now..... Not a single lightening strike on UK solid yet though...hmm if it's like this in an hour I might start to get worried! Feel sorry for the chasers who are in their cars miles from home if nothing happens!
