You are getting badly hit over in Northern Ireland. Have my family in Donegal warned as its supposed to be bad there.  We are getting gusty winds here and it is cold

Well so far the rain seems fragmented and light for this part of the region. Could the rain shadow help us get away with it? Still bad for Scotland, Wales and Cumbria though.

The wind has been constant here since yesterday afternoon, getting stronger, theres been some rain in the night but now we have driving rain coming in on very strong winds.

and the neighbours porch roof boarding is swinging off and about to set off in the air!

Not been in hear in a while, but I just wanted to say anyone who is affected by the ridiculous flooding in parts of our region, that my heart goes out to you and your families and I hope that things improve very very soon.

Dark and wet and less than 26 hours left before this diabolical year of weather is consigned to history.

Away at friends for the next couple of days and maybe not on here so have a good NYE and stay safe everyone.

You guys and girls have seen an awful lot of rain but it appears you may start the New Year with some snow; the uppers are not bad. The wind is coming off the Irish Sea, you will need to be inland to stand a chance very reasonable of that. Something to sink your teeth into. :santa-emoji:

Most of that is Rain Daniel if you look at the last bit the 4000 is the cloud base the SHRAGS Bit stands for

Rain/hail/snow showers, there is a guide somewere will try and dig it out and post.

meantime quite ironic temperature contrasts in the last 24hrs,last night we had a low of 13c,tonight it is

currently 5c,no wonder i have a stinking cold.

Thankfully we were spared any significant rainfall as anticipated, indeed it was a rather standard dose of rain which never got especially heavy for any length of period and thus caused no further flooding around much of Cumbria - parts were affected namely the A592 near Lake Ullswater. Its the second time we have escaped in a week, today it was SW Scotland turn..

The immediate outlook though remaining very unsettled with further bouts of rain, should hopefully see precipitation moving through much faster than has been the case for the last couple of months, and with colder uppers, it shouldn't be quite so heavy I would think.

The fells should see some of the white stuff as well, at the moment there is no snow at all on any of them, not all that unusual for the time of year it has to be said.

A little blob of snow over the Pennines later today if this turns out correct :D  It's a start at least, hopefully this will extend to lower levels soon :)

Being somewhat of an armchair (occasional flying) student TAF and ICAO's come naturally to the eye, it takes a few weeks of learning what to look for but with a trained eye it becomes second-nature. Often more reliable than the MWIS forecasts i've found from experience.
