There is no continental cold to tap into with the channel/undercutting lows...

For example, the set up on saturday into sunday would 100% be snow if there was significant continental cold.

This low gave 6 inches on Dartmoor, and it snowed down to 100mtrs...850's were -2 or -3...however, there was continental cold in place prior to its arrival....

Compare that to the current set up, its hugely similar (but rain!)

Strange walk. Sky clear but moisture coming down acting like snow so blowing around in the breeze but is actually wet rather than snow. Snizzle. No I wasn't walking home from the pub....I was walking to it.

Yup, I thrown my towel in now, Barcelona in March for a few days and Barca V Arsenal at the camp Nou then back to start on the deck for summer.

Knowing my luck a scandi high will give a 5 day cold spell delivering copies snow to the south west from March 13 - 18th lol

followed by a quick thaw hours before my return

Agreed Nk.  I think the inactivity on the forums says it all really. With my scepticism of the models by tomorrow morning itll all be in the channel islands lol.

I have found my chickens are better forecasters than any model. They are suggesting cold nights and soggy days. There's a suggestion of some wintry weather due to the fact I packed my snow boots away in disgust last week

There is hope yet. Even if we take March. Still wouldn't be surprised by a couple of cms in Bristol over the weekend. More to come before Easter Egg day.

Cold is filtering in and we could fluke some Severn influence looking at the output

Yeah, I've been a season tick holder for 4 seasons but not been much this season as to much going on at home. But was not turning the chance to go to a champions league game at the Camp Nou v Arsenal, no way!

To keep this weather related, I've no idea what sort of clothes to pack for March in Barcelona.... :nea:

Falling snow certainly possible Sunday night, but accumulations is another matter. Falling onto wet ground without freezing conditions before hand to chill the soils... probably not going to deliver in that sense, unless the precipitation holds up its intensity far better than currently being predicted by pretty much all of the models.

I speak the forbidden word. Upgrade. At the moment tonight and Sunday morning 6 hours of sleet and snow showing. Princetown 8 hours of snow. Watch it change by midday today though.

Cloudy but not raining at the moment. Temp 7C and wind ESE 18mph gusting 30.

Regarding today rain will affect most areas as the low moves east along the channel, There remains the possibility of some snow on the higher ground but I wouldn't put the snow ploughs on standby.

As suspected, light rain here.

Filton Weather courtesy - http://www.martynhicks.uk/weather/data.php

Showing temp: 3.4C

D.P. 2.3C

Could take the point .4 off for elevation here in Winterbourne. Still another marginal event by a few degrees. Weatheronline's version of Euro4 showing 850s of -3 / -4

Wasn't ever really expecting anything, though last weekend models were showing the potential.

We missed out by a few degrees again. Seems to be the way down here in the SW.

I wonder if Mully (KN) has a few sleety flakes blowing around on his little hill?

Potential for colder air aloft over the next few days and wouldn't rule out the odd flake if we can get any ppn into the mix.

Wet Bulb Freeze Level down to 500/600m so not even much chance for Mendips at 325m (Black Down)

Edit: I'm not saying anything was expected recently. Just that it was back on Monday. So this is my own personal exercise in futility!

We have sleet so maybe later on. Laying in bed watching the lumps run down window :D

Few wet flakes mixed in now so it is best sleet so far :clapping:

It really is painfully close... a mixture of sleet and then you get a flutter of snow flakes before returning to sleet.

Might bode well for later though if we have any ppn left when colder air digs in? :pardon:

Going to go for a walk up to second highest point on mendips to see whats going on.
