To ease the pain of a snowless winter for us it seems the snow falling up north today is starting to change over to sleet & rain.

Reports on North West thread that the snow is now turning to rain in some places and melting quicker than its falling.

Carol Kirkwood this morning hinted at this with a change over to rain as the day goes on!

Beautiful morning here so far and feels fairly pleasant in the sun, not looking forward to tomorrow, cloudy and damp with drizzly/light rain by the looks of it.

Good to see people in the North getting a pasting, some lovely photographic scenes today with some getting more than expected.

Bright blue skies here and a nice crisp chill, temp 7.1c

Really frustrating, I was up north in Leeds and Barnsley on Wednesday and did not see a flake.  On the plus side the sun is really nice here in London, just hope the snow does not hit Luton airport at 5:00pm as that is when I am heading off to Bordeaux.

Cheers

FC

When the weather is as good as today does anyone really still want any cold weather.

good bye winter hello Spring.

:) Never a truer word spoken.

Let them have the snow and we build up snow credits for next winter. :yahoo:

The GFS 6 is trying to raise our hopes with a final sleety event lasting pretty much any time from 6.00 PM tomorrow until midday Monday.  It really would be ironic if this turned into more than it should be as it seems certain that the Atlantic will then roll in a blitz any further hopes of snow for the year. ( and I know snow is possible in late March , April etc but it seems very unlikely now ). For me the Wind direction looks wrong for this to happen until late Sunday may be Monday when we get a NNE wind which should at least bring a chance of sleet and may be a final streamer of the year.  How bad that we are hoping for sleet, and I concur that warmer weather would be preferable to sleety / cold rain..

Snowing when it's light sound good for you later when it's dark and the ppn is heavier.

It's weird here. Mostly blue sky but the one cloud over us is spitting out tiny bits of wet snow. Although now more like sleet.

Showers aided by the main band of ppn and some strength in the sun. Friends on Facebook reporting of heavy wet snow in Weatley just east of Oxford.

I gather some evap cooling is playing a part!

A lovely day here, just a little bit of fair weather cloud this afternoon. The weekend looks a bit wet and miserable though with the window still on Monday for a few wintry showers. The 7-10 day range still looks promising with respect to some fine early Spring warmth potentially.

The showers are currently beefing up nicely to the West and SW of London ahead of the main band of ppn.

The shower overhead right now without the sun is giving Rain...

Work that one out ?!?!?!
