Porthmadog went up a lot more than I expected and reached 27.8c making it the warmest day in the UK so far this year

Just heard that on bbc. Cant believe it beat the May high!

Today we had a max of 23.1C but Bridlington on the East Riding coast only reached 13.5C. Certainly not a day for going to the (east) coast - even in the sun it's still cold there.

Wouldn't be surprised if somewhere manages 29c today

Temps along the east coast should be up a touch but NE Scotland coasts and the northern Isles could struggle to get above 13c or 14c

It was down to 4.4C at 5am here, but already 15C which is 6C higher than this time yesterday.

We will probably touch 20C for the first time since 9th May, beating yesterday's 17C.

well, despite the fact this week is shaping up to follow last years trend of nice weather during the working week, not so nice by the weekend, i've already cracked my three-quarter length shorts out THREE times this year.

Thats how i judge a summer; How many times can i get away with wearing shorts.

Last summer it was warm enough ONCE on a weekend to wear them and actually i'm pretty sure it was September 1st so doesn't even count.

In conclusion, this summer is already better than last for warmth, whatever happens now.

Would like some actual storms though.

A nice day today as the onshore breeze has weakened. We're completely clear with a temp of 18.6C at the moment after early fog.

June as a whole has been pretty disappointing here temperature-wise so far. We're running more than 2C below average and haven't reached 20C since 8th May.

Still, June 2013 was a lot like this at the start and then July and August had means of 18.0C and 17.8C.

Another amazing day today - been a very good June here, May was also pretty good for the most part, can see threatening looking cloud bubbling up over the Pennines though but clear here overhead. Glasgow looks like the hot spot at the moment at 27C according to xcweather.

I'm getting the impression these classifications: Warm 18-23c, Very Warm 24-27c, hot 28c+. So many places at 27+ today.

I would move the 24-27 to hot and the 28+ to very unpleasant!

Managed 24C even here in Cambridgeshire, it really doesn't take much to go from cold and grey to warm and sunny, the wind is pretty much from the same direction. The hi-resolution models suggest we could hit 80F here by Wednesday and possibly the south east could challenge the highest maximum of the year too.

For here in mid-summer I would say the following:

<18: cold

18-21: cool

22-26: average

27-30: very warm

>30: hot

Your post shouldn't be quoted but I can't get rid of it lol - apologies. I'd say my summer scale (depending on exact combination of sun/wind/humidity etc.) would be:

<19C - cool

19-22C - meh

22-25C - warm

25-28C - very warm

28-32C - hot

32-36C - very hot

36C+ - too hot

Gorgeous day here, touched 25C and very little cloud. A real tonic after the past week. Shame next week looks poor; the ECM appears to have had the right idea.

My summer temperature scale:

< 20C - cold

21-23C - cool/average

24-27C - warm

28-30C - very warm

31-33C hot

>34C - very hot

Ideally, anything 24C or greater is fine with me in summer with the odd cooler, wet day.

My ideal summer temperature is around 23C, but anywhere from 21C to 25C is okay. The average high here in July is 21.2C which is acceptable to me, and is a pleasant temperature. I've never desired heat - don't see the point of it really beyond barbecues and swimming. I can tolerate it fine, but I find 30C less comfortable than 21C.

24c sounds ideal to me. A nice dry heat 35% humidity. 10c at night to make things comfortable. Clear blue skies all Summer long:) I do like to see extremes elsewhere though. I wonder if 40c will be reached this Summer? Maybe a few decades time.
