Just had a cell pop up here SE of Birmingham.

Half a dozen claps of thunders as it past just to the South East of here.

Fingers crossed for later..

Storm cell south of Leicester is still producing and heading in the direction of Derby. I am hoping it does not die out just before it gets here. Storms from the NW normally get killed by the Pennines, I am hoping that a storm from the opposite direction stands more chance. Skies are a milky/grey colour here now.

On the edge of that one now! Nice deep booms coming from that, and very heavy rain just started.

Few booms, some lightening and got a soaking during my track session at MK. Heading back towards LB, big spots on windscreen again., pretty cloudy.

My fingers are crossed. I normally go out and chase the storms but it is a rarity to see one bearing down directly on my house :)

Can hear occasional deep booms from that cell E of here currently.  Hoping some more cells build to the south and east.

Slight increase to the flow past 500mb up to 300mb, but no real increase in the mid-levels to get storms to organise, as is evident on radar. What's happening is once one fully-fledged updraft (storm) gets going, lift is generated in its vicinity so you get new fresh updrafts surrounding the storm, giving the illusion that one cell is being sustained, when in reality you've got several updrafts competing with one another.

You think those storms to our south could make it here then? Could new cells keep fighting it out, especially now potential energy available is now coming towards a maximum? :)

So the storm I'm currently interested in is the one currently near Chipping Norton. If it holds together, it looks like it's path could be Stratford, Selly Oak, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton before it goes into the back end of Staffordshire and Shropshire. Everything else would be too far west right now.

But I reckon there's still more to develop anyway!

My lord if it does hold out, you're in for a treat! Just seen some cracking pink ic zig zags shoot across the sky with a lovely bang!

Certianly did the right thing heading to Leicester!

Being rained on hard, big time now making it difficult to hear anything!

Now that looks like it's rotating..

Is there anything likely to still develop to the south of these storms?

Leicester city centre right under it now,  lightning all the time and thousands of blue shirts have hidden.
