OMG...it's fair to say we just core punched!!! Deafening noise, roads flooded in seconds and an extremely close bright CG as I type...this has been worth it already and I'm still in the car (just passed Ashford)

I imagine I'm not the only person here very jealous of those down in Kent! Good show around Canterbury last 5 minutes, more for a lot of people this evening aswell!

Looks like the remaining lot is kicking more easterly so that could be it for these shores. Odd that the first batch tracked more northerly yet these next batches are chucking more easterly.

if that was just a rogue single strike that thunder sound carried a long way , that looks to the south east of warrington , maybe 15 miles away from here, wonder if it was a positive cg groundshaker

That storm that is heading through the channel between Dover and Calais has intensified a lot in the past 15 minutes, would love to be around that - although preferably not on a boat.

So I take it the Channel had no effect on this storm?

don't think so

I'm watching BBC1 and that channel has had no effect on it whatsoever

Interesting how fast they're moving, the rain is torrential, but not much is accumulating in a single area.

I'm surprised to see that some heavy showers have developed over inland parts of Devon and Cornwall!

I won't go on about it, but did get a good look at the top end of that line of storms, WOW! Going to head down the beach now the rain has slowed, see what I can of the rest to the east.

Been watching a fantastic little lightning display over the channel from the Dover Patrol Memorial car park.

not as flashy as the radar would have you believe - perhaps once every 20 seconds now, but big mighty ones when they go off. Got some good photos, the structure is also amazing. Big storm - shame it's all wasted over the sea!

Well, I have to say it was nice to see Kent and the English Channel getting hit hard by lightning tonight! As others have mentioned, it's a shame that most of the lightning was "wasted" on the sea! LOL!
