Wish I had chased it, but knowing my luck if I do now, it'll have dissipated :(!! Kicking myself for not heading towards Kings Lynn way!

Developing quite a shelf on its back edge though :o

Whathe does this mean by shelf

Hi All

to coin the phrase " Biblical rain " this was exactly what we had over Sleaford around 2pm, plenty of thunder and light from that. What was more impressive was looking at it from afar on my way back from Newark, the scene was magnificent as the sun was out behind me and the flattish horizon as we came upto RAF Cranwell gave us a panoramic view of the storm.

On a different note it looks like the storm currently moving out into the wash is heading Boston way and as such should be a direct hit with a bit of luck.

Basically the outflow boundary of a storm, more common with a powerful one, develops a gust front, which can often look like a shelf :) as what the photo shows.

Good luck with it coming towards you, but be warned for if it does, it packed a punch here, flooding everywhere, emergency sirens and scary bolts of lightning everywhere!

As the storm is moving just to my west, there's no thunder and lightning, but I've caught an amazing updraught video. Here's a picture of it. EDIT massive lightning and thunder just then!

Pouring down here again after a brief interlude, no more sferics in the past 5 or so minutes from that cell and it may slide just to my west.

Reports of one of the main roads in Hunstanton closed because of flooding at the bottom of the hill the town is on, rain normally collects up causing minor flooding down there but this is the first time in 2 years its been bad enough to shut it

The lightning radars never really showed it, but we have flashes every few seconds for at least half hour here on the other side of the wash, along with absolutely biblical rain

Me too. I wish I'd chased it. But it wasn't forecast to be organised stuff today, you know, one of those storm lottery days. The wash has hit the full 6 and the bonus this evening! Heard all the rumbles and saw a posi strike nevertheless :D
