Indeed, and interestingly I've only ever heard its contracted form, 'yonks'.

Getting frosty again now, although we didn't lose the grass frost in sheltered corners all day.  Some dramatic cloud forms and colours over the firth at dusk!

'The Day after Tomorrow' is on again this evening... seems like about the right timing! Or perhaps Terminator 2 might be a better film?

Cold night last night and frost still on the shaded part of the lawn at dusk. Our first icy pond day too. Freezing hard now, wheelie bin lids frozen solid and winsceens are frosted inside and out. Brilliant sunny day though but it's a lecky blanket night tonight for sure.

Aye firmly in the freezer here too. A low of -6.7c was our lowest temp of the season so far this morning. A max of -1c today but its been dropping since around 2pm. Currently -5c. What a beautiful crisp day it's been, plenty more please :)

The bits in T2 where Skynet machines take over/destroy mankind will probably be used as a blue print for Trump's foreign policy plans

Anyhoo.. Few wee snow symbols for Sunday night in to Monday, doesn't look like much exciting though, most likely meh

Every journey home has been horrendous recently with the state of the M80 and M74.

Went a different way home via  Carluke, Lanark and over to a bit north of Abington services.

Can confirm there was precipitation all the way, was 4c and raining just north of Glasgow but turned to snow near the startof the adventure.

Was 0/1c in deepest darkest Lanarkshire where there was 2/3 inches of snow settled with it falling fast.

Wasn't that bad on the actual motorway though and just some sleet mixed in with the cold rain back home. 2.4c currently and damp.

Feels like a new ice age coming to me, looking at who the Trump has already said he wants in key positions.  Even more ironic is the way everyone dashes across the border into Mexico to escape the ice age.  Art (of sorts) predicting reality again.

No freezing fog in the Sneck anyway, which tends to be standard form here when things settle down in winter, quite a cold breeze blowing through. Took the dogs out for a quick 20 min walk and it felt quite raw, temp is reading -1 with s feels like temp of -7'C. Few showers trying to make their way in so maybe a light dusting of snow to come :)

Got fog here wouldn't be surprised if it freezing fog feels cold enough

Just been to Siansbo and can confirm temp is -0.4 and a proper pea souper ootside.

Nice dusting of snaw on the Ochils earlier, and even a smattering of flakes on the Fintry road, just hope the rest of winter continues in the same vain.

The electric blanket got put back on the bed tonight, as I type it is currently -3.5 yesterday we only managed -1.6 so we are already much colder.

We've beaten the minimums recorded for these Novembers:

Nov 2014   -02.2

Nov 2007   -01.9

Nov 2015   -01.7

Nov 2009   -01.5

We have to beat -6.9 to be the coldest recorded November temperature (since 2007) and -7.1 to bet the coldest 2016 temperature.

We shall see........ (Oh yesterdays average temperature for the entire day ended up at 0.1C)

A bit foggy this morning not nearly as nice as yesterday!   Currently 0.7c and only achieved -0.3c overnight.

Looks as if we may get a clearance soon though as you can see from the St Andrews, Aberdour and Anstruther Fife webcams below:

Rain, possibly freezing rain overnight. Thick layer of ice on every surface. Far more than you would ever expect from a simple freeze after a shower of rain. Car door frozen shut.

Starting to melt in the sun.

Another sunny, cloudless and wind-free day - couldn't ask for more given the time of year.:)  Cold tho',  temp at 11.30, 0C with frost still covering the car.

Going to clean and hang out the bird feeders this afternoon.

Is this cold spell to last?

Not really. Tomorrow onwards there's likely to be a couple of wetter and windier days, predominantly down south but the low pressure systems do then move NE into the North Sea. After that we appear to have high pressure moving in for a bit. How that works out temperature wise is beyond my pay grade. If it's a cloudless high it could be cold overnight but with pleasant days. If it's a cloudy high it could stay cool but probably rather dull.

Was near Kerrowdown earlier where it was still -2'C at midday. Absolutely stunning day over Inverness and Loch Ness area, blue skies against white hills with freezing fog slipping around the summits of Torran and Meall Fuar Mhonaidh, orange trees and the loch glistening.

I definitely should have taken a couple photos on reflection.
