To be honest, we should probably forget about marginal snow setups, and concentrate on this... this looks serious and potentially life threatening.

Slight chance of snow from evaporative cooling as slack off-shore winds combine with heavy precipitation tonight early hours. After this morning though I’m not holding out any hope. Met still not on board for tomorrow night’s wind potential.

its one of the times when I will disagree with the Met-Office stance on this. I think it will hit us square on.

I agree, its a storm late in naming and less than 36hrs away. The sustained winds at rhe time are around 60mph+ With gusts much higher. Should be all over news such is impact but its not london so wont!!

Thought i'd contribute....

Saw about 2-4cm accumulate this morning through till around lunch which left a glorious scene here in South Lake District. Rain frll sporadically this afternoon leaving some untreated snow cover and the usual slushy mess on used roads and pavements/paths.

Without a shadow of a doubt the most snow I have seen since March 2013! Haven't always been in the Lakes since then. Good, short-lived but not amazing but made the most of it anyway.....potential for more next week but won't read too much into it until nearer to the time

Sleeting in Stoke, so must be a bit of a top-up for peaks and Southern pennines.

Was a bit surprised to look out of the window and find that for a brief 5 minutes it was sleeting. Sometimes the weather in the UK baffles me.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
