Well the showers stayed away for the celebrations and fireworks so that was good. Happy New Year everybody.

This is precisely what Easterly winds give Chorley.

Boring weather.

Met Office put me down yellow warning for wind here from  6pm Tuesday onwards and most of Wednesday.

Lancashire

  1. Yellow warning of wind

    From:
    1800 on Tue 2 January
    To:
    0800 on Wed 3 January
    Updated 5 hours ago

A spell of strong winds is expected later Tuesday, overnight into Wednesday morning.

Combined with a period of high tides, it is likely that some western coastal communities will be affected by large waves and spray, and there is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown on to sea fronts, roads and coastal properties. Power cuts and disruption to other services (mobile phones for example) may occur, and there is a small chance of transport disruption or cancellation of public transport.

  2. Yellow warning of wind

    From:
    0005 on Wed 3 January
    To:
    2200 on Wed 3 January
    Updated 5 hours ago

Strong and at times gusty winds are expected through much of Wednesday.

Combined with a period of high tides, it's likely that some coastal communities and routes will be affected by spray and large waves, whilst there is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown on to sea fronts, roads and coastal properties, along western and southern coasts. There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life, as well as minor property damage, from flying debris. There is a small chance of transport delays, route and bridge closures, and cancellations to public transport. As well as this, there is a small chance of disruption to power and other services.

I'm surprised they didn't named the storm as of yet.

aaaaaahhhhh is the NW ever going to get any snow.

Can’t be bothered with the East getting snow showers for 3 days and us basking in cold sunshine.

Agree, but will be painful to see feet of snow in SE, and nothing here, kinda makes me want the Atlantic back

And it will..

And when it does come in there will be a mild sector in the way so the NW gets rain and every were else gets Hammered, its a given that's what will happen.

Couldn't agree more.

Hopefully the Atlantic can help us out here.

Get a few westerly winds into the cold air.
