The irony of it if GFS 12Z op run came off. Developing low, which provides a westerly component to the wind and massively increasing snow chances for this region.

Would make me smile if the snow hits us and misses the  south

That could of been treacherous I know some one rescued by helicopter in 2013 off the prison band area due to  onset of hypothermia , ironically I advised her not to trek that day due to snow and wind conditions.

........we were as ever well equipped but believe you me  - I have many more tales to tell

Short term (3-4 days) I think things are lining up nicely now, huge block setting up to the Northeast, brutal cold is coming. Phase 2 is much harder to pin down as it's 5 plus days away and involves trying to pin down snow chances for everyone, no downgrade or anything like that for me. All good mate :)

I hope your right but there’s plenty in the Mad thread who sound like they need counselling at the moment.

The problem is when it gets like this there are far too many people making irrelevant posts. It's like panning for gold looking for the nuggets amongst the sludge. When I mean nuggets, I mean good analysis not "this is festering good run" and a chart is posted.

5th January 2010, one of the best snow events in Liverpool? I only got 2 inches that day, did I miss out by a few miles? That felt good enough at the time though.

Yeah roughly the same here. See the everyone is happy again in there, people need to relax. As far as I'm concerned a bitter cold spell is on the way and I think the whole region will get snow at some point in the next few weeks.

ECM Is a Stonker

Get your shovels ready should that verify.

On a serious note really need that HP Further North to calm the nerves

UKMO and GFS A bit to close for comfort  although Dry and Cold

We're clubbing together in the Yorkshire thread to buy a massive turbine to blow all the snow over the pennies if you get short.

Although I think you'll have ample if ECM  or GFS is right:D

Oh good not just me then.

Totally agree. I’m going to be posting some stats from the Tableaux GEFS in there for every run to see how they trend.

High on GFS is a lot further north. Infact the differences at 144hrs at the position of the high is stark between all 3 main models.

UKMO has the centre of high south of Iceland at 144hrs whilst GFS has it between Scandinavia and Svalbard.
