Had snow this morning leaving a dusting that has melted away but if the showers get going there will be a covering by tonight

Weather warning for tonight brought forward three hours and one issued for tomorrow. ?

Anyone seen the GFS. Surely even we get something out that

Nice to see the Irish sea coming to live generating little pockets of showers...I think it will be a wet snow/sleety mix here during the day but might turn more wintery over night should the showers keep going.

Just rain off these showers at the moment. I’d be very surprised to see lying snow tomorrow morning.

Showers have a northerly drift at the moment meaning showers are staying mostly to the north of the M62

Rain on and off this morning. Met office updated warnings for tonight.

Fear we will be on the wrong side of marginal here, but looks good if its snow you want further inland though.

Oh dear bbc weather have put a snow shower symbol up imby. That's the end of that one then

After yesterday's 21.5mm,  2020 is now 1996.2 mm.  (previous record was 1984.0 mm in 2012)

Hail just now.  Beefy looking showers upwind.  Could reach 2000 mm by tomorrow.  Incredible wetness.

I have to agree with you, air is just not cold enough and even the GFS/ECM/BBC looks like it has reduced the potential somewhat. I never expected much wintryness in the showers today mind but all looks underwhelming too me sadly.

Lots of showers this morning, just a wintry sleety cold rain mix so far. Snowline I think currently about 350 metres, but not sure. Current indications suggest frontal feature will arrive before midnight here, by then should have better conditions for snow to lower levels. This evening will be good radar watching time, suggest those wanting snow pop into the Scotland regional thread see where and when and how much snow is falling, suspect a few nw regional followers who like snow may not have much sleep tonight. Bank Holiday tomorrow at least!

Been a lovely winter morning south of Manchester this morning after Bella moved through last night chilly walking the dog but not too cold. Think we all stand a chance of seeing some falling snow tonight whether it materialises into a covering or not is yet to be seen. At best we could see a Boxing Day 2014 style event at worst a slushy rainy mess or even nothing at all. No big freeze but a cold week to come though - the coldest start to January since probably 2010 and with that the potential for some surprise snowfalls too. I’m sure many will be up late radar and maybe lamppost watching tonight!
