What I know about today is that my waterproof coat is no longer waterproof 😡….soaked to the skin this morning on dog walk. Rain barely stopped all day 🌧🌧

At the moment looks like a rerun for tomorrow (Thursday)

A precursor of what is to come later, it is bucketing it down with a gusty chilly wind!

Hmmm, I had a text from Powergrid this afternoon….🤔. Must have been just for us ‘southerners’??

Been grim here since the early hours

Plenty of standing water from leaf blocked drains!

River not looking worrisome...plenty of room to go before it does! I don't know about downstream of the flood works though? We get shut of the waters real quick these days so someone must cop for it?

Lunchtime bike ride as @A Face like Thunder predicted was wet. There was some respite with the rain, and the wind had dropped a bit from the gale force E during the morning but still force 5-6. Managed 8 miles rather than my normal 10. Temperature 10C but wet and wind make it feel colder. Very heavy cloud. Needed lights on all day in my home office.

Countryside is now looking very wet after the latest rain, in fact as wet as its looked in the last 12 months. I assume groundwater will not have caught up yet.

The total now (1501) is 42.2 mm since midnight till raining with mod-hvy bursts. This is the wettest day since 31/07/202 with 37.8 mm.

I 'think' my wettest is 56.0 mm on 20/09/2008

202? , just interested. My wettest was on 2/8/02 at Pickering after about 100mm fell overnight on Fylingdales. With the new flood defence scheme up and working, hopefully we won't be seeing scenes like this in Pickering tonight or tomorrow

Just been looking at the local rivers and they haven't reacted much which probably reflects that the month until now has been fairly dry. A few are high but most well within the normal range.

Over 46mm here now, will I get to 50 by end of the day? Possibly!

What a horrible, dark wet, miserable day!

Shame it's not colder, this would have been a right dumping of snow

Horrible drive home tonight, the main road was dicey but the backroads home were treacherous, it was a steady drive!

Double post 🤷‍♂️

A depressing dark dull wet day with drizzle to light rain showers. You can see the cold air digging in from the east with a rapid drop from 7.9C to 6.6C in the last hour n half.

Afternoon. Not looking great for next week but the models are showing a decent chance of drier weather months end. Actually a lot of blocking on some runs with potentially colder weather. All subject to change but nice to see 😊

Yes first frozen car windscreen of the winter. Mrs Mike57 went out at about 6.15, and put wipers on to wipe the screen (it was dark), one wiper left frozen to screen, while arm continued to 'wipe'
