Unless there is a trough feature forecast, it's going to be hard to see much PPN making it west of the Pennines, that's just the way it is with easterlies.

As for later on the week, it could be a classic case of charts that don't look snowy on face value could well end up being snowy. The more kinks and lower thicknesses there is, the higher chance that front will intensify. Hopefully before that, we can return to a sharp night time frost when this easterly flow eases, Wednesday night got the potential to be the coldest night of the season so far.

Mmm looks like you were right, we've had the odd rogue shower today but very much the spoils, barely anything has dampened the ground and temps have been too high for any wintry. Need something more substantially heavy and long lasting for wintriness I feel, a trough feature. It was looking good, but the showers have fizzled largely this side of the Pennines. Had we had a stronger flow and a couple of degrees lower uppers then we could have seen quite a rash of snow showers today.

Still potential overnight, but will depend on intensity and longevity, as temps will be more conducive for snow down to quite low levels.

Looking ahead Thursday holds some promise, thanks to a frontal feature moving in from Scotland, much will depend again on how heavy any precipitation is, the heavier the better as it will aid evaporative cooling. The front will move through during the mildest part of the day so if light may only bring a sleety cold rain, with snow above about 300 metres. Tomorrow night looks very cold.

Not bad.....not bad at all. Madrid might get buried this weekend. Not unheard of for it to snow there given it's a couple of thousand feet up and a very long way inland but I think really heavy snow isn't all that common. Looking forward to the pics of it should it happen.

If we don't see any snow from Thursday's feature then this recent cold spell for me will go down as one of those near misses. Many have been caught lucky snowfall wise, but alas we haven't. Hoping we can squeeze something on Thursday to redeem it somewhat. Temperature wise its been a good cold spell by recent standards, looks like a 2 week period of below average temps, and quite a bit below, last time it happened in winter season late Feb early March 2018. Last time it happened this point in winter was in 2010-11.

Yeah the easterly just lacked proper instability unfortunately, it's why dew points have been higher than expected for the most part and the showers have been light to moderate mainly.

As for Thursday, it looks messy, it could either surprise or dissapoint. I do think winds during thursday daytime could be on shore so I'm hoping no PPN turns up until winds go off shore and we get slightly colder air again. The potential for it to pep up is there although the BBC forecasts dont seem too interested in that but at the end of the day, it's the radar that has the final say.

Seems to be a streamer or trough feature stretching from Hull down into the Midlands.

Its pepped up centrally but seems to be also building weakly on the NE side and East of Pennines .

Another slight dusting of snow overnight but overall the last 24 hours have been disappointing given the potential.

Maybe not the same for everyone but in my immediate area it was one of those days where the Pennines just stopped gobbled everything which dared to come into come close.

It's still edging down, just north of Otley, Ilkeley at the moment.  -1 in Macc, but feels quite bitter.  Going to be fun sliding into work in a few mins, looks icy out there.  Interesting to see what today will deliver.  @Day 10 thinking of you, and sending my regards.

Didn’t it just. So much activity then magically disappeared.

Snow flurry here at the moment. Very light, but can see every flake settling.

Slightest dusting here, but ground is frozen so it's readily lying on receptive surfaces.

@Day 10 sorry to hear about your current battle with the dreaded virus...hope you all get through it.

The slightest of dusting of snow on the bins this morning. Currently -0.1°C with a minimum of -1.3°C overnight. It’s supposed to be light snow again now however it’s not doing anything at the moment.

Light to moderate snow flurry on and off here for past 30 mins has put down a slight dusting. Seems to have developed right overhead.
