I take back what I said about being good for some parts of the region this morning. The showers aren't even making it a few miles inland now 😂

It's been snowing in roughly the same spot for 45 minutes and to make it worse its literally right next to my house but not quite far enough!

Light covering here this morning, current temp -2.5C, radar looking a bit more tasty towards the north, which is drifting south, should be a more interesting day than yesterday🥶

There's a dusting of snow in Newcastle this morning as well.

There's more significant activity in the North Sea pushing south so I think we could see some heavier showers as the day goes on. That matches with the precipitation charts yesterday showing the heaviest showers around the middle of today. There's some slightly milder air mixed in with the band that sat over Scotland yesterday so I just hope it doesn't turn to sleet later if the heavier stuff hits us.

The band that is hitting the borders definitely looks to be sinking as its just north of Alnwick now. Here's hoping

To be fair that last shower eventually moved over and dropped some more. About 2cm in total (ish) from last night. Can't believe how dry it is if I'm honest. Give me a screaming easterly any day of the week.

A couple of light snow showers here overnight topping up the light cover we already had.

Bit of a dusting to fill the gaps in from the initial fall on Thursday. Wind vectors at last coming from the East again & system very slowly heading South, which seems to be story of this spell - a few sweet spots & nowt else

So there we have it a cold spell without snow for most of us… bring on the mild to hit the reset switch and go again.
We may have a good period of snow Wednesday but as the way of things I doubt it will happen.
If no snow I want the no heating weather lol.

That system dropping down from the north is dying down compared to a few hours ago.

I'm heading over to the NE next weekend - Newcastle- Durham area. I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread in the days ahead, hope I arrive to snowy scenes, and get at least a day, possibly two before any breakdown, indeed could well be a snow fest...

Over this side of the Pennines, the near term outlook looks snowless, but it will be very cold everywhere.

I am still clinging to hope that we will see something in the coming week but how gutting it is, last night it was above, below, to the side of Teesside !!

It's coming to something when balmy Brighton and Eastbourne are getting more snow than here and it seems to be becoming more of a common recurrence.

It's no more than a dusting on Whitley Lodge so must be very localised

Is it looking good for us?

You’re in the warning area so I would suggest so. I mean I would be incredibly cheesed off if I look out my house to see the snow over Middlesbrough but I’m in clear skys. Icing on the cake that would be 😂
