If only gizzy that will stay well away unfortunately

The early hours looks out best bet winds more favourable for our part of the world

Showers starting to feed in off the sea in the borders.  Hope this is a trend that continues and heads south, because right now its the same old story.... all out to sea

Was my fear from last week these showers will be so frustrating. So many out at sea if only we could get the winds right.
Coastal areas ( Sunderland etc ) will get these showers, as ever in Teesside we always end up with north westerly winds that push them over Whitby.

Our only hope is for a few surprises that pop up.

Sounds like it could be very nasty with those temps.  Powder snow?

Can we really see this being all snow with them temps? I will eat my words if so.
there is only one ever time I remember this happening when fronts come in from the west and it’s all snow. 9/10 times it’s a slushy mess at sea level.

That won’t be the temp when it’s snowing that’s the max temp for the day

This is always Teesside’s issue and for as long as I’ve been a weather geek I’ve never understood why this happens.

Showers come down the north east coast then as soon as they come down to Teesside area the winds push the showers over North Yorkshire missing us completely.

it really is like we have different weather down here.

Radar has exploded a bit tonight.  Seems the radar was underestimated somewhat.  If it can keep on the same track and intensity then think a fair few places will wake up with a nice covering.

North Yorkshire sticks out into sea so has the advantage of showers even when the wind is west of North. Back in December Whitby area saw 5 inches in places even though the wind was NNW, whilst im In N Yorks Im 25 miles inland so like your location we need either a direct northerly or anywhere east of north to get the showers.

Are we still waiting for the colder air to reach us because it doesn’t feel that cold?

Was expecting one of those sudden marked drops in temp once the front moved through, alas we were still on 7-8 degrees this afternoon sometime after the front had moved through. The depth of cold and uppers is taking a long time to break through it seems.
