I’m within the new MO warning, but can only see it being sleet here on the coast.

Popped out for an hour today, first time I’ve left the house in 9 days due to vertigo, and came back to a covering - gutted I missed it. All melted again now.

Some very slow moving showers in N. Northumberland.  Hope the activity will move south.  Still could get lucky later.  I bet they would give a fair coveringCould contain: Chart, Plot, Map, Atlas, Diagram, Nature, Outdoors, Sea, Water, White Board

It definitely won’t be sleet today we had the lightest snow shower in history in Costa del Redcar so if it’s cold enough here it’s cold enough anywhere

I’ll keep my fingers crossed then, for both here and Redcar

Amber snow warning issued for Durham from 3pm tomorrow to 12:00 Friday

Heavy snow is likely to cause significant disruption on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning

What to expect

  • Travel delays on roads, stranding some vehicles and passengers
  • Some delays and cancellations to rail and air travel are likely
  • There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off
  • Power cuts are likely and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected

Snow is expected to develop over northern England on Thursday morning, becoming persistent through the afternoon and overnight into early Friday morning before slowly easing. Residual impacts from snowfall are expected to persist through Friday morning. 10-20 cm of snow is expected to fall quite widely, with some places seeing 30-40 cm. Strong easterly winds are expected to accompany this snow, leading to blizzards and drifting of lying snow.

LOL! That amber area is  basically the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbrian Fells and North Pennines. Well, duh!

I'm at 105m here. I'm expecting blobby rain/snow mix with limited accumulation, but Consett of course will be cut off for days 😄

Yes that snow line is at my house. It then decides to head south. Couldn’t make it up.

Looks like is still slowly edging north . It’s a good 150 miles further north than is was forecast

God knows the weather will do what it wants as usual

There is some heavier stuff in it further down the coast

Surely the snow shield will send signals for clouds to drop all snow before it reaches you?🤣

It's been on the outskirts of Darlo for over an hour, just keeps moving east,

Can someone give it a nudge over the A66. It's painful to watch but feels bitter outside so we might see something soon

Rating this winter,

What are you all rating this winter out of 10

My honest opinion is 2

I would of gone 1 but we have seen a few light snow showers and had some frosty nights, I have seen winters that have produced absolutely nothing, so I've gone for 2.  We have had nothing of interest weather wise in teesside since last summer's 40 degrees.  I'm very disappointed I was hoping for much more.  Sorry for the negative post but I'm just so let down by our winters now.

The wife works in Catterick and she's just text saying it did snow a little 20 mins ago and now it's a fine drizzle

12z is poor - keeps it all further south than it had been. Teeside might be OK. Rest of us missing out to a large extent.
