Thought we'd have more Nortumberlandias reporting snow from the amount of convection off the sea.

Will be interesting how Middlesbrough, Redcar fare now the most intense snow pack is reaching their region, especially given Sheffield and nearby having a good day thus far from same system

There’s no marginality about it right now it should lay if it persists even though the ground is wet.

It’s starting to stick on the cars.

If only the precipitation would move another 10 or 20 miles north. What's stopped it getting here all day

Think the strengthening wind helps in these situations as does help with drying off damp ground & then piling up on favoured topography. The almost non existent winds today even at my height just meant all that fell melted. Marginality can be your friend if you want larger stickier flakes as opposed to dry graupel

I can report after near continuous sleety wet light stuff since 10am we finally have proper snow which is sticking to many surfaces, if it maintains this rate the wet tarmac should be covered in an hour. Current temp 0.7 degrees.

The Tyne & Wear snow shield has been holding firm all day now,is there any chance of snow coming through it tonight?

Unbelievably frustrating day looking at radar and seeing Tyne & Wear void of any showers

Installed a new outside camera at 2am this morning, to stop me having to keep looking out window. Not sure I'd see anything atm

I'm around 5 mile up the road and have nothing. Strange.

It's barely moving. Its soooo frustrating. I do think areas like Whickham and those directly East will be hit in the next few hours.

For those in Tyneside.  Keep an eye on this heavier band of activity to the north which is sinking south....
