If I was trying to stay positive the one thing I would say is that the showers look like they're getting bigger out there over the sea. Maybe things are changing after all.

Great to see some areas having fun and my negativity aside long may it continue for you.

To anyone not getting the showers. Don't worry. All you're missing out on is more sodding graupel.

Not true everywhere?

It hasn’t made its way over here yet maybe they are more slow moving now?

What’s wrong with Graupel? Otherwise known as soft hail ,it does nor melt as quickly as a snowflake and makes a good base for the snow to lie on.

Mines all melted just about and its fine if snow follows. Problem is in this location I've had a few measly bits of graupel showers then nothing since.  Would rather see thick heavy snow falling  than this if I'm honest.

Not heard or seen any reports of anything other than moderate snow today, no full on heavy intense outbursts. Any reasons, very little deep green, yellow action.

It is just day 1 of 5/6/7 and possibly more.

Lots still to come I am sure, I am still hopeful tonight will deliver.

I do agree though that I have found it baffling how it hasn't laid that readily, maybe the wind blowing it around, but there is sheets of ice here and has been all day but yet the snow ( and we have had quite a lot falling ) doesn't stick.

Thing is after Wednesday it's forecast to dry up.

I'm keeping my eye on this clump here.  For the first time today they appear to be maintaining so far...

Really starting to graft down a bit now, better quality of snow as well

First shower just clipped us need a direct hit from the ones behind it. If they do it will be a white out like you say it’s better snow with every flake settling

I was under a red burst earlier, but still rated it as 8/10 for intensity.   One of my pet hates... people overusing "heavy snow" when its just a moderate shower.

I blame Nick Kershaw  - you may not get that one Boro and probably a few others on here might not either.

Some might blame Elton John.....

Heaviest proper snow shower yet here for the last 10 mins and still going! All white again. Just whether this embryonic “Teesside streamer” rests into a groove and keeps its intensity/intensifies over the coming hours. Fingers crossed.

Re: melt - recall in 2018 there was daily melt at the height of the day - even during some of the bitterest daytimes. Could be sun strength? Unsure.

Aye it does suggest that in the forecast but don't forget that is the same forecast that said we would have about 10/15cm now.

Time for it to change.

They must be moving at a snail’s pace absolutely nothing in Boro yet.

Wind has definitely died down a bit that’s a good thing as the showers won’t rattle though as quickly
