A bright clear morning has now given way to overcast skies with rain looming, at least I managed to get a few miles done earlier on whilst having a trek up to Mellor Cross and seeing (what looked like) a few anvil-heads amongst the lower/mid-level clouds.

A bit of snow moving south on Tuesday morning? Doesn't look like it will amount to much though.

Tuesday morning snow potential pricking my interest. Could be a little surprise.

Mmm not the most inspiring of days, mostly cloudy with bursts of rain at times. Still mild but not as mild as recently, and the stiff wind took the edge of temperature.

Tomorrow looks a similiar day, cooler feel, with showers or bursts of rain, some clearer breaks at time.

Tuesday will bring a marked change, and the return of cleaner polar air and sunshine!

I saw Tomasz S on the Country File weather forecast for the week ahead. Tuesday and Friday seemed to be favourites for a bit of the white stuff but only possibilities, and I'm not holding out much hope for either here in the lowlands of Cheshire.

The fells at least should see a good dose of snow, expect the snowline on Tuesday to be about 350m, later in the week about 500m, we may see some wet snow down to lower levels at times, but not expecting any cover - though could be a surprise or two.

Yep still some interest for the early hours. I will be staying up late.

Blowing a hoolie here today; so much so a few trees in the woods at the bottom of our garden have snapped in half! There were some serious gusts overnight!

8ºC (feels colder though with that wind) and dry for now

A crystal clear view of why snow is so hard to come by here, we may as well live in the sea!

I wonder if the Wirral will be swamped by the sea within the next 50 - 100 years

Not sure there will be any lowland snowfall tonight.

I'm more interested in possible wintry showers Tuesday evening through the Cheshire Gap.

Won't amount to much, but would be nice to see snow fall.

Says something when a northerly brings us back to the 'seasonal average', so from tomorrow onwards should feel a bit nippy but only because we've been costa-del-sol over the past few days.  Might take the smugness out of Darren 'Mildy' Bett's forecasts if it's his turn on the weather presenting roster.  Robert "Rob" McElwee was my favourite, he always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye and left it on a cliff-hanger when a freeze was on the way.  Trouble is it would be thin gruel on offer these days.

A bit of wet snow at best is my bet from now until Friday.

It was Darren 'Hedge your' Bett on the Country File forecast last night rather than Tomasz S who was on earlier, and since they tend to do two evenings in a row, I think we might be seeing DB again tonight. Oh for the days of Jack Armstrong and Bert Fford. Come rain or shine, blizzards or drought, hail or tornados, their facial expression never changed from 'Best BBC'!

It was a nice start to today with a sunny morning, but has now clouded in. The wind is a little gusty out. Going to be a real shock to the system tomorrow after the past week of exceptionally mild weather, with max temps of around 4 or 5 degrees and a strong Northerly wind. More my kind of weather in winter.

@Kasim Awan What's your thoughts on this?

The spine of the country on high ground could be well placed.
