One of those morning where the temperature is say 1C in one place and only a mile down the road it is 6C. Currently 5C, minimum last night was 4C with no frost, yet down the road and inland a bit it is frosty and 1C

Strange morning frost on roofs and cars, was bright sunshine but in the last 10 mins, fogs beginning to form can literally see it in the air. Flippin cold though brrrrr

It's the next best thing after snow in winter, should make for some decent frosty nights, but of course freezing fog could become an issue.

No frost at home this morning, cloudy and damp.   A little bit of mist on the way up the M6 in the fields and towards the hills to the east and in the usual spot where the Lune runs under the motorway. Apart from that nothing to see here

Cold evening yesterday but cloud encroached through the night and the morning dawned mild. Current temp 7 degrees much milder than yesterday and we have cloud cover.. cloud acting as a lid.  Yesterday we had sunshine and it was colder. Looking ahead- an unusually static picture for mid January little day to day changes... very uninteresting.

Wow, quite a contrast with here in the south of the region where it is currently a beautiful winter's day with hardly a cloud in the sky!

A slight frost here in S Cheshire this morning beautiful day though bright skies at last currently 4c ☀️ Not really interested by talk of a northerly looks more seasonal than proper cold as per much of this winter so far with the exception of the v mild spell between Xmas & New Year.

Morning,

With the amount of high pressure that has been present this Winter between the UK and the Atlantic and the fact that as when we approach Feb blocking becomes more common, I just feel it will be a case of when not if high pressure finds a gap and ridges far enough north to become cut off ushering in a proper Winter spell.

It keeps trying...

It just feels like it's been trying all Winter to ridge north and eventually I'm hoping it will win out, time wise I'm thinking end of Jan.

In the mean time frost & fog and possibly/gradually ever colder air filtering through, not bad if you ask me!

Your having what we had yesterday. There is a slight flow off the Irish Sea here keeping temps higher and allowing for cloud though skies are clearing..

Its typical that whilst the rest of England & Wales enjoys blue-skies today, there's a nice layer of cloud and murk parked over the NW region.

Rare for the Lake District and also much of NE England to be having best weather in England today. Positively spring like outside no wind sunshine and temp of 8 degrees.

Definitely springlike. Birds are singing and you can feel the warmth of the sun on your face. It’d be great if it was the first week in March.

If the cloud had been forecast to drop decent amounts of snow then you can be pretty certain that we’d have been the only clear area in England and Wales.
