Happy Auld Year folks! Temp struggled to get above 2c today, but no rain, hail or sleet! A rather lovely day in fact, so we took ourselves oot fur a wee dauner this afternoon. Going to be a quietish Ne'er Day here, which is fine by me. Hope you all get the winter you dream of, but above all, have a great day with your family and friends! A guid New Year tae ane and a'!

Cars and grass are white here, street is slushy and still coming down. Looks like as @Kayemill said it'll probably die down for a bit before the band over northern England makes it way north in the early hours. ..

yup same here... several tins since 6pm and opened the door to take  dog out for a walk and booooooom nothing better than a surprise fall..... walking dog in silence and snow after several drinks is absolutely heaven. Happy New Year folks

Steady Light snow for just under 2 hours left a small covering on all surfaces, no where near warning zone met office but no surprise there, another year no difference

Happy to report snow is now settling on pavements, cars and grass just the final boss (the roads) to be tackled now.

Sadly, my internet died earlier this week so my weather station isn’t transmitting. DD saw flakes of snow falling around an hour ago and tbh I was sceptical but sure enough, the ground and the cars were white. Let the dogs out just now and another light shower was falling so I guess that’s me on lamppost watch until the wee hours.

Gonnae be a picture-sque new year's walk up Sluggan the day.

EDIT and the sunset last night was stunning. Looking up the upper Dulnain valley fae behind Lethendrychule. Well worth the run up there burning aff festive calories! Bit slippy though!

Good to see some folks getting a decent snowfall. Nothing here as expected. Even the Pentland Hills are green to over 300m and above that nothing more than a layer of slush by the looks of it. Kills my plans for a snowy walk locally

  Blue skies, even some sunshine. Jedburgh - the Scottish riviera Had some rain ate on last night but it stopped. Wonder how Edinb hogmanay went - don't fancy for one minute paying a fortune to stand around in wet streets in pouring rain listening to eejits screaming and yelling.. 

Shuggee I begin to wonder if that heron at Peebles is real, I think he might be a concrete one the cooncil plonks around for folk to take pics of. Any pics we take of the river always seems to have that bird in them! lol
101 North, amazing the difference in your weather and mine. In the last house - boundary line between Midlothian and Borders - we got the same weather as you, down here never anything like it.
Scottish Skier your post made me spit coffee on the keyboard - I had a school pal who for years into adulthood used to say picturesque =picture-sku
and etiquette = eteek
