Last couple of days has been a crash back to weather reality for here.

Permagloom in the main with periodic bursts of heavy rain.

Done wonders for the garden though, noticeably greener already.

Not feeling cold, currently 15c thanks to some very heavy rain, but was nearly 18c earlier.

The only bit of blue sky seen since Monday, associated with the clearance of the rain yesterday evening.

Back to good old sunshine and showers.

Currently 16c with a fresh southerly wind.

When they hit, these are heavy showers...

Always a price to pay for weeks of decent weather but it's a kick in the nuts to have this at the start of the school holidays! Kids are doing my nut in already! Still on the plus side the grass looks better 🤣

Barely made it to 15C today, feels more like early September than the last day of June.

Yep, definitely had that late summer feel at times. Only difference is that September tends to be quite nice mostly! 😂

Fresh afternoon with heavy showers and  currently  13c.  Snow forecast for the high tops over the weekend so more like Scottish summer weather.  However it's good for physical work.

Strawberries finished in garden yesterday. A full month ahead than in the 1960s and 70s Same variety Cambridge Favourite.  A real sign  of climate change..

Cool today at 15c with sunny intervals and a fresh west wind

Fresh breeze? FRESH BREEZE? BBC weather says we have a fresh breeze, yet met office chart shows our winds are gusting to between 35 and 37 mph. On the Beauford scale that's on the high end of near gale. Veggie garden devastated, brassica cage blew away, fleece covers ripped to shreds, bean wigwams collapsed, leeks and onions snapped. If I'd had a bit of a warning of sorts, like "near gale", I could have been prepared. But no, I just had a quick look at the wee summary on the BBC site.

Leuchars managed 18.8c yesterday in the morning sun but the wind meant it felt cool.

Dire this morning 10c/10c with grey skies and heavy drizzle and a light easterly breeze. Late October anyone?

Despite a brief warm-up at the weekend unfortunately cool and unsettled looks to be the theme for the first half of July.

Damp but rain not desprately heavy. Important change tho this rain band as this potentially the trigger for some fun and games on Saturday 😉

Rain is pretty heavy here and has been for at least a couple of hours. Might just be more exposed here. Definitely seems to be more intensity to the rainfall here in general, compared to Glasgow.

Flaming June definitely a fast fading memory.

Been a very soggy few days, with temperatures feeling more like September than July.

Not much in the way of sunshine either.

Today though a bit of a improvement as up to 19c, so warmest day since last week.  Some rain just now, the imminent arrival of that making for a very milky sun earlier this evening....

Friendly bunch in the fields next to Castle Fraser just now...

Rain has actually been fairly mental here for the past few hours. Would be interested in the rainfall totals as I think it’ll be significant.

A high of 19.9c today, which is the high for the week. Currently sat out with a beer in a cloudy but bearable 18.7C. School holidays have finally hit here, so we leave at the start of next week to head to Germany in the motorhome for a bit.

Bon voyage mate!  Last Sunday south on M6, four hours stationary near Preston, followed by a diversion through the town.  Returning today from Telford, an hours delay near Stoke, another half hour south of border.  To keep on topic……max 28 around Manc, falling with more cloud to eventually 22 here.  Apparently rain last night, but still looks lusher to the south.  Finally, isn’t Tebay services a magnificent place!
