That's a fair blob of precipitation heading towards Edinburgh. Somewhere inland towards Lanark maybe could do OK from that! Wet snow showers here but amounting to not very much at all.

Over the weekend should see the lowest temperatures of the season so far.

Best chance of seeing a white Xmas this year, according to the bookies, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Snow line this side of the Pentlands looks to be about 200m, maybe slightly lower. Plenty of cars coming in from Balerno / Carnwath direction with plenty of snow on them. Just too exposed to the Forth on this occasion here.

I think the biggest problem was the path of the showers. Last night they mostly came in from the northeast crossing the eastern side of Edinburgh and continuing south over Straiton/Penicuik area and further south. Currie/Balerno only managed to get on the edge of a few flurries as we needed a slightly more easterly flow to bring them this way.

That's very true. I can remember a few NE'ly setups where the same thing has happened. Suspect that big blob I posted before going to bed was the culprit 😂

Another wet sleety morning here very cold at   1c  Cows and calves smiling inside the folds.    Will be horrendous ice if this lot freezes tonight water pouring  across side roads from fields. Must have been heavy sleet all night.

That’s crazy considering you are just along the other end of the bypass 😳

Looks like localised bands of showers ❄️

Glorious wall to wall sunshine here. Beautiful start to winter, certainly makes up for the horrendous autumn.

Great to see some snow pictures...

I was convinced I saw a snowflake the other day...but it could have been a brids feather blowing off the roof.

Woke up to an orange sky then down it came! Not an awful lot but  first real snowfall of the year and it got heavier later on. Son said Soutra was slippy. EDIT - the snaw came down, not the sky. Yet.

Just watched the white shower clouds moving away to my SE we can only have missed that one by a few miles 😏 where as last night we seemed to be in the prime position. The wind is to Northerly now to bring the showers far enough inland ❄️
