Perfect summer weather, 22c and very sunny. Not much wind, not too humid and sun feeling that wee bit less strong.

Rain moving in tonight which is perfect as the fields have had slurry put on them.
Looks like high pressure may return so i’m happy for us to get some rain before then.

Absolutely agree with Salty.  Brilliant day with very little low cloud and virtually non stop sunshine. Basic rule of adding 3 or 4 degrees to max temperature forecast has as usual worked well.

Great day for Langholm common riding too I believe.

And yes the max temp was MILES out from BBC/Met office. My app was saying 19c.

Husband nearly ended up like you puffy but managed to stay at home albeit with plumbing installed and district nurses coming daily. He has kidney disease.

Weather - been great. Hot and sunny. Too hot for me, I'm so close to the fan  I think my nose is shorter than it was.

I have a respiratory consultant here and a couple of specialist nurses and a whole load of fancy equipment, all of whom I plan to entice home with me on a promise of filthy lucre and fine wine. I hadn't thought of spending enough for a plumber though. That would be an either-or situation I think.

It got hotter following my last report, mid 20s, and calmer, and thereby more stuffy. Not at all nice when you're stuck inside.

Morning folks.

Started off cloudy and rainy but has now cleared.   Temps up to just over 20c and sunny.  Hopeful for the rest of the day.

The muggiest of muggy days. Was 19.5c about midday, warm enough for shorts despite no sunshine as humidity felt >80%.

In the last hour some quite sharp showers have pushed through, temp is down.
Classic late July/August weather for here, can’t remember the last good August. Maybe we can break that theme

Last August especially last few weeks of it was actually pretty good after a wet start.  Would be good to see a good August but it’s maybe too much to ask. Certainly not been a wet summer here but rather dull. Think it was April the last complete week of dry and sunny weather and since then been rather poor with the odd brief 3 day period of long sunny days.

Really nice day in the East Neuk. Nice westerly breeze which is usually good for us. Wind off the land so got up to 22.6c even here in Pittenweem. Good sunny spells.

Bang on for central Fife too.   This summer (so far) will go down for me as cloudy,  day, after day. after day with a cool wind.   The unusual thing about the set up though was that it always cleared around tea time and left a sunny (though very cool) evening.   With the exception of the 'heatwave' which it wasn't because we only managed 2 days of high temperatures here with one or two sunny days scattered around, that's been it!  Exceptionally dry tho' which has been noticeable in this area for some time.  August hasn't been good here for quite a few years either  so not looking for much improvement going forward.  Happy to be proved wrong though!🙂

Highest temp achieved today was 22,2c.

One thing different this year is any high pressure the winds have been from SW/W or NW. No NE or Easterly’s which means Eastern Scotland has had no haar but further West has seen it rather cloudy. Was in Fife few weeks ago and noticed how brown the grass was so shows how little rain there has been.

Apart from last weekend not been much rain to talk about this summer. The year 2000 I recall summer was quite similar.

Some rain overnight but since morning fairly warm and bright intervals. Top temp of 23.3C and still over 19C now. Nice sunset.

Paisley certainly hasn't had a heatwave summer so far. There were two days in the high 20s but the rest of June and July has loitered in the low, mid and upper 20s and often mid to high teens. Plus clear sky has been at a premium so most days have been decidedly humid, which along with little wind for a lot of the time has left days and nights feeling stuffy. Or muggy. You choose. At least there's been little rain that has tried to make summer stand out, but then spring had little rain also. I think most folk here will be disappointed up to this point. Anyone for August? Or autumn?

Morning all.

Well what a difference a day makes!   Out of the permagloom  yesterday and today, a return to the permagloom!

Mostly sunny this morning at around 18C which is pretty typical for this time of year.

Sawing up old rafters this morning. Various stages of attic renovations are being pulled out to get some insulation in, we're sick of burning stuff just to entertain the stars.

Sun starting to peep through now.   I might have been a bit premature with my prediction of another day of 'permagloom'

Our attic was done about 3 years ago thank goodness.   Probably do a check around the place before winter sets in though.

I trust you have been well and moved forward successfully from your 'hopalong' stage?🙂

Yes, crikey, hopalong was was early last year!  We've avoided covid so far here too although I have no idea how, most of the 'careful' types caught it in the last wave, just not me and Ms HC.

Lovely afternoon, swapping between watching TdF Femmes and rafter cutting. Apparently there's a football game on later too 🥱

You don't say!   We have had visitors all afternoon so hubby has missed the first half.   He is now  waiting impatiently for the second half to begin.😄

Covid free here too!

Got back home from our travels around Spain and France on Sat evening. Weather here seems to have been perfect whilst we were away for growing weeds and grass. The driveway had sprouted much greenery in our absence, and although I initially thought the grass didn't look as bad as I'd expected it took me well over 4 hrs today (I'm not joking) to get it back to looking half normal again.

Grass will need another, quicker, cut in a day or two. The driveway weeds are a job in progress.

After spending much of the last month in temps of 30C and over (maxed out at 43C, likely a record for me despite a 3yr stint living in Orlando in the late 90s) it was nice to be working on the garden today in a high of just over 16C.

Morning all.

Pretty nice day appears to be on the cards with temps currently sitting around 15c.

Spent most of this year, weather permitting, in the garden on different projects.   I was getting pretty fed up with how it was.

We added a summer house, (which is pretty much our pub) and then found that we needed to add an outside toilet to save running back and forth to the house for nature calls  (it's a man thing isn't it? when the beer flows!)   Put in a new seating area and replaced some of the herbaceous beds and perennials.   Added in some new electrics as well.

Quite happy with the way it has turned out and it is looking quite colourful too.   One more corner area to do (next year) and that should do it.

Will post some pics.

You pig!  I haven't used the damn thing since it was bought in 2010.   But you know that don't you?   12 years I've suffered the scorn on here!😆

Thanks for the welcome back though.   It's great to be here again.
