Dare I say a autumnal feeling day today.

Permagloom™ with a stiff N to NW wind making things feel distinctly cold; max temperature was 14.5c.

Sporadic showers of drizzle/light rain to add to the autumn feel.

Castle Fraser still well frequented though, felt a bit weird seeing all the dutch and german registered cars in the car park after their Covid induced absence over the last two years.

Yeah you dare say autumnal, I was thinking the same. Also saw some Autumn Gentian in flower this afternoon, so the end is nigh.

Last Tuesday my phone was saying 32...........I don't think we're getting 32 tomorrow 😉 Looks like a fine start cloud build maybe 1 or 2 showers but should be drier than it has been last few days

Better day today after a pretty poor one yesterday. Actually saw the sun for an hour or so in the middle of the day!

Not warm enough for clegs and too breezy for midges, can't beat that for late July.

Home in St Ives enjoying a braw sunset from Porthmeor Beach. My mum seems to be recovering quite quickly from her stroke, arm and leg movements and spirit coming back. The town is completely overrun with tourists, but it's nice to be home in the summer (as we usually avoid peak season) and swim in the sea.

That’s good to hear 👍🏼 & a beautiful sunset to boot 🥰

Down to 3.5C this morning and chatter in the dog walkers' car park of ice on windscreens at 5am... Certainly a very heavy dew for me. t's July for heaven's sake!

Sunshine though!

Another cool and mainly overcast day.

Max of 16.1c with light E-SE winds.

Blackberry crop now in full swing, a good few weeks earlier than usual.

A decent look to tomorrow for heavy showers and a bit of thunder (there's not a huge amount of CAPE modelled but should be enough for some strikes)  as the trough sneaks in through the night

Today was different to yesterday. Warm and overcast so squadrons of clegs, and no wind so swarming masses of midges. I exaggerate a bit but it was unpleasant to be out in a sheltered glen with nowhere to hide.

Warmer here too today. So the corn lice were out in their millions as I washed the old tractor. They really go for me making my skin very itchy. The white roof on the old tractor tuned black really amazing numbers. Stacking small bales of hay tonight in the cooler evening

Humid day again with lots of corn lice .Was up to 23c earlier this afternoon but its clouded over now with a thundery looking shower to the SW over the Cawdor hills. 20220728_161200.thumb.jpg.be5b970bee5dbcf9303d3441f97fcf4d.jpgNeighbours cutting winter barley in a cloud of dust completely obscuring the combine.

A downpour here for the last 20/30 minutes, varying in intensity. Quite soothing.

Floors Castle maximum temperature record ruled out for 'non-compliance', so Charterhall has it at 34.8 deg.  The pictures and interview shown on Border TV news did show a lot of white man-made material (garden fleece?) in the vicinity, which might well have affected readings.

A provisional high of 35.1C was not verified as the site did not comply with Met Office standards.

Perfect summer weather, 22c and very sunny. Not much wind, not too humid and sun feeling that wee bit less strong.

Rain moving in tonight which is perfect as the fields have had slurry put on them.
Looks like high pressure may return so i’m happy for us to get some rain before then.

Well...Nice to return to such a 'descriptive' post!

Hello folks!   I see the old die- hards are still around.   Comforting to say the least!  (the very least)😄    The site has changed a bit during my absence so it may take me a while to get what's left of my head around it!   Here goes...

I'm sorry but I had no idea we were going to be joined by such distinguished company. Well relatively.

Temperature in low 20⁰C range, bright sky despite cloud cover greater than 50%, calm and stuffy. Not comfortable.

Husband nearly ended up like you puffy but managed to stay at home albeit with plumbing installed and district nurses coming daily. He has kidney disease.

Weather - been great. Hot and sunny. Too hot for me, I'm so close to the fan  I think my nose is shorter than it was.
