-2.1c here the low and bright sunshine with a hint of mist around, perfect day off weather.

Another spell of sunny days and frosty nights, this will probably mean that there is a good chance of another positive anomaly for sunshine amounts to add to December and January. In the end this will probably be the most notable element of this winter.

This happened this morning and I have never seen anything like it before. I honestly thought for a moment something had gone seriously wrong with my eyesight. Sparkles everywhere!

It was only when other people walking down the street were noticing, I realised it wasn't just me, and we were all talking to each other about it.

It looks like Diamond Dust (wikipedia’s explanation is quite good), although I wouldn’t have thought it was anywhere near cold enough for it.

Some small flakes of snow in the light mist/fog maybe.

I'm not sure, I've seen it happen in Dover a few years ago, but at night, I showed my kids and call it fairy dust lol. No cloud full moon, and small flakes of snow falling from nothing.

Exactly! I googled and it was the only thing that looks like this I could find... but it was only just below freezing.

It was the strangest moment, really beautiful. When I got home a neighbour came out and asked if I had just seen it too!

They were definitely crystal like, not like snow. They reflected the light so much it was like little tiny flashes.

Possibly it did happen at night here, but the falling things were very small, just looked like small bits of shiny dust. I thought it was snow though. But the main thing was clear sky, no cloud at all, and it just looked magical, told my kids it was fairy dust, they were like wow.

Great point. That would make a lot of sense! The sun was pretty bright through the fog.

Proper thick fog out there now too.

No fog here, but it's cold and frosty regardless. Can tell there would be fog elsewhere though, if you know what I mean, like it's trying to build but can't here, sort of thing. May be a slight breeze or something.

It feels way colder lately than most of winter! Might be the freezing fog? :/

-3.6c here just now, far lower than the forecast 0c.

Can see a fair few -5c to -7c about across Kent too this morning so a very cold start

Already 2c here, I blame the North sea lol. But we do have a frost again. Fog didn't want to build properly last night, just had a light mist.

Got to -3.8 here and was -2.5 yesterday so two cold mornings but beautiful clear blue skies again and yesterday was 7.4 and today Will think something similar.Looks less frosty next few mornings as more cloudy so at least that will save 5-10 minutes clearing frost off the van!!🤣

We’re in a small dip from the stations around us so mine will sometimes read lower. Very hard frost though, lovely to look at.

Currently 7.4c
