Calling it a bust for East Kent compared to what was expected! Looks like that huge mass of rain from an OLD MCS did some damage to the potential. Whereas West of us faired better

Not really ...it rained which is godsend but not much really and I've circled my one bang that was it ..

Not much thunder and lightning but there have been a few close CGs that have meant that I am certainly not sleeping through this.

I was right, another drizzlefest. The only person who has ever got a storm forecast remotely correct for Norfolk is Dan.

Really didn't get much. Zoomed in too badly to get a good video of one of the only two bolts that weren't just flashes.

Having run through the radar for overnight I'm impressed with the number of storms around. Unfortunately for me they seemed to skirt around my location - but hey ho!

Here's how it looked at 00.10, 01.10 and 02.10 this morning:

Yep, not much water deep, may be up to 20cm or so at the top. Even that was dry till today here. The two warm spells, and not much rain in-between here. Or before in August either.

Heard only one clap of thunder all last night, at 1123 pm to SE'ly. Reasonable amount of lightning before midnight. Had a short period of heavy rain some time after midnight.

Early cloud has cleared and it is at the moment sunny. Not sure what we will get from the cold front, there does seem to be some scope for something quite active (though it will probably not be thundery).

As for last night, I think the storm was losing some of its electrical activity by the time it reached here, still there were a few decent strikes.

Got the grass cut with 10 mins to spare before what passes for a "thunderstorm" (??) appeared. Well, one rumble and some moderate rain, so quite a severe weather event in these parts.

Nice rainbow earlier this evening as a heavy shower moved away east. Even a faint double rainbow showing:

For the record, some info on the rainfall from the overnight storms in East Anglia, courtesy of Dan Holley, Weatherquest:

Heavy rain and thunderstorms affected many parts of the region overnight, with the greatest accumulations in a corridor from London to Cambridgeshire and west Norfolk — where some gauges recorded 30-40mm. Bedford (Thurleigh) recorded a wind gust of 46mph at 02:04.
