Got to 9.8°c.....currently 6.4°c overcast and patchy rain.

Well I'm half expecting a slushy mess here midweek......proper white covering will be a bonus.....be nice if we had at least something to smile about....I'm not gonna dust off the sledge just yet....☃️

I did manage some flakes in December, only a couple of minutes of light snow but it was something I guess.

Never trust an app but the met office app for me has continued its downward trend from snow for 12 hours to rain and sleet for this part of the moor for tuesday and Wednesday Even Princetown now has sleet in the forecast. Might upgrade overnight but so much uncertainty!

I believe tonight into tuesday it will be rain, sleet.

Followed by a weak southerly tracking low on wednesday with temporary accumilations of 1cm in places (mainly hills) follwed by strong low steam rolling in thursday giving us rain.

Temperatures just don't look good enough to me and unless it is heavy and persistent which wednesdays isn't currently then its just going to end up in disapointment. 😑

That’s what my head says too, although my heart says otherwise 😍

Hello all, so will it really for our region? This Wednesday is the best cross-model agreement on a region-wide snow event we've had since 2018, and now less than 36 hours away. I think it will hit now, however, like others, I fear the marginality. Great for settling in areas 100m plus above sea level, but perhaps non-settling snow below that level? Or will greater intensity pull the snow line closer to sea level?

Ah sorry, I thought the first chart was 1am Wednesday?

What time of day is the second chart you posted for?

Thanks

No that was a few years previous, maybe 2004? I do remember that very well! 4 inches of snow in half an hour, never seen anything like it! Was like dense fog coming over the horizon when it showed up, with purple lightning and a huge boom of thunder - just before rush hour! Roads were chaos.

I remember that one also, I was working in Bath and had to drive in the thundersnow - very strange experience. I was in my old Alfa V6 which makes it very likely to be 2004 as I didn't have that car for long and bought it at the start of that year.

UKV now making much more sense given the deep lack of cold air, as people say "Get the cold in first and the precipitation will follow", but there's a distinct lack of really cold air for Weds AM.

AND YET for Weds in to Thursday they seem to have gone way.....out on the second attack

Hoping the spin will pull in some colder air?

Now that's a channel low. Needs framing!

The weird thing is, not many parameters seem to fit the bill for coastal areas..

So the latest run of UKV has delayed the main period of snow from during the day Wednesday to the evening. That could all change on the next run mind.

Setting us up for a fail. I’ve been trying to remain positive all day. Now everyone is all doom and gloom I feel like crap about it all. I hate this hobby 😭

Just seen Bbc local weather, hammond says couple inches tonight over Mendips, Quantocks and Cotswolds then chance it might reach lower ground wednesday but uncertain.

Currently over the Mendips now and I can confirm it’s 4c and raining!
