A few rumbles and a splash of rain half hour ago, but nothing too much to shout home about.

So something finally came to life right at the end of the day then.

Quite a pleasant evening now after this afternoon’s deluge.

We went to the shop and it was gorgeous blue sky! Worth the rain to see that rarity!!

Morning All,

A change in wind direction this morning it has also dropped which is nice, it seems to have been a windy year so far.

Looks like the wind will pick back up on Saturday as a (possibly?) named storm enters our area. Met just put out a Yellow warning which I could see being upgraded to Amber if confidence increases in this scenario.

Morning All, a bright start to the day, after an overnight low of 14.2°C at: 05:48, currently 17.2°C at: 05:48, RH84% and light air movement from the NNW.

On Golden sands a fair number of boarders out in a calm sea today, with the low cloud ceiling showing nicely.

Whilst not appearing to have such a low pressure as yesterdays affair (984mb), it does suggest it is somewhat tighter with an increased pressure gradient, so does at this time look set to produce stronger winds than yesterday. Will the Met Office name it, or let the French name this one as it did with yesterdays?

Apart from a heavy shower this evening it was a decent day here and although not especially sunny it actually felt quite warm at times. Reached 23.1°C

Abandoning you all for a week in North Wales. Might be fun tomorrow 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️! Looks somewhat better from Sunday.

Heading West on the M4 , is this large Kelvin Helmholtz cloud or just a form of Cumulus?

The light rain certainly was localised

Having another look at it, it's a tough call, it does have some uniformity necessary for KH waves, and there's a definite reason for the rising moisture which does seem to have been pulled to the right at the top of the cloud. Certainly has some KH characteristics.

KH clouds typically occur at higher altitudes and in clearer skies with a decent amount of wind shear. Interesting pic nonetheless!

On the note of wind shear, there will be strong shear later today at the westerly end of the M4, enough perhaps for a brief tornado. Probably will be too dark to see anything though.

It's not going to be a fun first night of camping for those heading down to the SW today ...
