Squall has subsided briefly to moderate- heavy rain but lots of low rumbles & distant lightning flashes a close one a few moments ago. First storm of 2022 in meteorological Autumn! 😄☔️

Lightning becoming more regular now to the South   roughly 45 seconds between flashes.

Glad we had a thunderstorm storm last night. I decided to stay up and had a couple of almighty bangs of thunder a long with torrential rain. Certainly a silver lining on that horrible hot summer. More thunder to come in the next 30 mins? Can see flashes to the south.

Just caught walking the dog in the squall line, thought it wasn't due until later so foolishly went out. The rain rates were crazy for a few minutes and the wind really gusted, sounded like a freight train briefly.

Oddly whilst rain the thunder and lightning stopped but we then had some big flashes as it moved away.

Waited all day to get shafted like that.

That was probably last chance for this season. Worst year for storms here ever.

The lightening is still flashing away, it's like what we get in Spain. Rain has died off now

That was a nice storm. Several very loud strikes. Quite infrequent about one every 2 minutes but still good. Some torrential rain, no hail here. Moved off to the north now and activity has stopped.

Can hear the rumbles now the rain is here, not overly active but better than nothing I suppose, it's so weird that all the heatwaves that fizzle out producing nothing yet today was just an averagely warm day and we get storms

This is generally a more reliable setup, at least for this area, plumes very rarely produce
