Another good day! Very good cloudscapes. Activity should continue offshore too around the SE and the E coasts in particular! Tomorrow should be half decent too, and perhaps off from the get go along the East.
If you thought it was over too, it may well be not. A late plume now looks on the cards for next week!!

All the good stuff I saw was out in the Channel heading east. It was still building too.

Feels so fresh out now, and the stars are all out, what an end to the week, 4/5 days with thunder, but it all feels like it's over now, on to astronomy season! I'll have to get the telescope back out soon.

Looks like a thunderstorm may have passed through Lincoln while I was at ten pin bowling between 6:30 and 8pm.  The Met Office ATD only shows three strikes nearby to the south though, so I may not have missed that much.

The sound of your balls rolling along was probably similar to thunder.

I know I was proper impressed with her! Age 7 and did better than me LOL! She printed it off and has taken it to school to show everyone in the class.

She got a video too but you have forward to 1 minute 50 seconds odd to see it lol. And it's just a quick flash with a slight forkey bit. Not as good as the photo!

Always good to get them into it at a young age! I've taken my 9 year old son out twice now this year and he's had 2 direct hits already,he was buzzing but we did get a pretty close CG and he said he nearly crapped his panties🤣!

The wrap around is starting to happen now across the board. Westerly motion in those showers approaching E Yorks. Expecting some of the stuff off East Anglia to perhaps start to trundle Westwards and offshore convection to perhaps head in over the small hours! Could throw up a surprise or two.

Some absolutely massive rain here now in Hassocks, cells on the Sussex coast seem to have a bit about them but no lightning yet.

Just been under a torrential storm east of Doncaster, near Thorne. Some excellent structure as it approached and then a torrential downpour of rain with lots of flooding and some bright flashes of lightning. Unfortunately was stuck inside the car for the storms passage over, but still a nice catch. I'm in Snaith now and the storms fizzled to just heavy rain.

Glad to hear that your back out and about and on the chase again!

My take on this week. Few different, but local locations.
Never seen a shelf cloud & to see 3 in one week was quite something.
To be under one was a monumental moment, to sit & watch the incoming storm with no wind, rain was really peaceful until it unleash the mighty power of biblical rain & wind!
Mother Nature I applaud you 👏

Great shots Lu. I could see that shelf cloud from my spot on the south downs here just north of Hove and it looked massive! The one we had here was about half the size at best!

WOW this was that stationary storm in Montpellier a day ago 😳

Holy sh*t that's absolutely colossal! Saw one in September 2006 just off the North coast of Crete like that and it even made me slightly scared! I'm glad it was 10 miles out at sea and I'm glad I wasn't on a boat at the time! Constant thunder for 2 and a half hours!

Wish my parents liked weather as much as some people on here 🤣, occasionally I have gone garden chasing though and one time did go to the local park to try and get a better view but apart from that, nothing really. I might go to the windmill next time but I'll need a coat (I don't have one I think ) because there's nowhere to hide if I do.

Day 1 Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Fri 09 Sep 2022 - 05:59 UTC Sat 10 Sep 2022

ISSUED 07:20 UTC Fri 09 Sep 2022

ISSUED BY: Dan

Upper low exits eastern Britain to the North Sea on Friday, providing another day of scattered showers courtesy of a cold pool aloft atop a humid low-level airmass. Diurnal heating and SSTs will yield 500-1,000 J/kg CAPE, and numerous showers will develop in the unstable environment. Forecast profiles reveal tall, skinny CAPE with weak shear - suggesting pulse-type mode primarily with the biggest concern local surface water flooding from slow-moving downpours that may train over similar areas. Some sporadic lightning is likely, perhaps most likely in eastern England aided by convergence zones here through the afternoon hours. Ridging and warming aloft will tend to limit the convective depth (and therefore lightning potential) over Ireland. Showers/storms will generally fade through the evening hours as nocturnal cooling of the boundary layer occurs, but a few will likely persist overnight along some North Sea coastal counties. A few funnel clouds / spouts will be possible given the unstable environment and areas of enhanced low-level convergence.
