Storms and Convective discussion - June 2023

OK, there was about 20 minutes of torrential rain and some thunder on the West side of Shrewsbury from those cells that really grew out of nowhere in the space of 10 minutes. Was finishing off at an allotment , nothing ominous in the sky, mentioned the ‘B’ word, called into the local shop for maybe 5-10 mins and in that time the skies erupted. Annoyed I missed the approach, very unexpected but looks like further East there will be plenty of fireworks later.

Latest Glasto storm update, first front just passing through, wind has switched to strong almost NW from SW in 10 minutes, temp has dropped 5 degrees. Lots of forcing on the front.

Glasto remains dry and mud free.

Can see the 2nd front coming soon.

Interesting sky approaching from WNW of Warminster. Nothing happening rain or thundery wise but will see what occurs as it passes soon.

Where are the convergence zones right now? On the east coast?, as expect that is where will it get tasty later when the cold front arrives

Sun is back out and the heat and humidity have really upper.

I’m not the biggest fan of lightning but if I am able to move without ending up looking like I’ve just been drenched then bring on the storms.

Netweather does have my area right smack bang in the middle of the most severe storm action here

If this ends up a bust it will be such a disappointment.

Getting brighter to the s/w, followed the rain band as it was coming through and now chucking down some heavy drops. looking like the action is going to the n/w of here. some photogenic cloud scapes though.

Really strange that.  Heavy convective rainfall for 5 minutes then nothing.  Sun is coming back out and humidity has skyrocketed again.  Hoping for something better than this

Looked very interesting a few minutes ago on radar

My view to the west, winds picking up and a slightly fresher feel. Radar is looking promising..
