I think he says error bars as he's referring to the margin of area with predicting where any storms will be.

I thought he was on about chocolate bars, Aerobars and Mars bars. 🤭

Can see the starbars in the sky, too much light pollution to see the milkway tho.

Interesting meteorology at play currently.

We've got the mid / high level cloud and instability in red coming from a southerly direction, however the North Sea low cloud / clag depicted in white is moving in mostly from the east, as the wind direction at the surface is different compared to much higher up.

I think these are the type of set ups where you can get thunder fog in for coastal areas, but quite rare for it to all come together. Not expecting that tomorow morning anyway.

August 2020 there may have been an instance of that if i remember.

Another storm forecast, once again initiation possible early morning/breakfast time from M4 region. What happened to late evening & overnight storms pushing North from Bay of Biscay in the recent couple of years? Seems much more rare now!

I swear I remember having 'thunder fog' years ago.

Please… not again. I’ve only just cleaned the Nutella off my cape from last time

Evening all, just as we approach a potentially active 24 hours or so of weather there are signs that we are now coming towards some destabilisation. Some rather pokey little cells are starting to form now between the approaching trough to the South West and the little convective mess that I'm watching moving in towards Hampshire and West Sussex. This is the point where I usually start keeping a closer eye on the radar. Best of luck to all that will be out chasing over the next day or so and hopefully we will see some decent convective activity 👍.

Lost count of the times low cloud from the North sea , has ruined any views of cloud structure and lightning.

Oh dear, no sferics whatsoever from the showers that formed. Somehow it’s even managed to stay dry here all night.

Both UKV and Arome seem to have removed a lot of this evenings action as well 😂

Morning!

Well the forecasts don't seem to be in my favor anymore, and what was once booming in the channel has just turned into a rainy mess... Surprisingly heavy, but not worth waking up early to see it.

Yep, this is a big fail even by uk failure standards.

We had quite a big rumble around 6AM and a couple of distant ones a bit earlier so better than nothing! Very heavy rain too

Not seeing anything of interest today, not even sure why the yellow warning is still in place until 12pm.

Was only expecting sporadic strikes for the stuff this morning, so I don't think it was too far from general expectations. It does appear like the tongue instability struggled to advect far enough northwards however, with any lightning really being confined to the channel.

Is it? Rainy mess with the odd rumble of thunder was all that was forecast for this morning was it not?

The later stuff looks to be restricted to wales tbh

As usual with storms I'll believe it when I see it. Loving storms is a cruel mistress, so much temptation but so often not producing.
