Edinburgh at 0 degrees already. Yes probable first air frost here early hours.

Yes first widespread air frost of the season for north half of the UK. Nothing too unusual, but a major switch from the weeks of endless mild.

-0.5°C here in East Yorkshire at 0500 hrs and an air frost. I suspect some of the good frost hollows up on the Wolds ( eg Thixendale have a good icy covering this morning )

It must be quite a frost hollow around there as we only dropped to 2.3C despite a lack of an onshore breeze. Even Leconfield only dropped to 2.0C.

Either way, its our first ground frost of the season.

Dropped to 0.8C this morning, a nice covering of frost on everything. Not bad for this early in the season, especially with all the warmth we've been having.

Cold enough for ground frost on cars in BD19.

Shap the cold spot, -3.7 degrees. Not as cold as 30 years ago when Shap went as low as -9 degrees overnight 15th/16th.

I think -3.7C was just the lowest number on the hour for Shap. The low was -4.0C.

It was actually-9.2 deg,the record for that date and the coldest date record since May 15th.

For the UK as a whole, don't have to go back very far... Altnaharra and Braemar achieved -5.0C in late September 2020 as early as the 24th.

A min of 3.3c here this morning, there was no frost on the ground but some roofs were white for the first time this season.

Orpington Kent went sub last night with low of minus 1.1 reckon this date is about par for first subzero in suburban South East?

Shap seems to be a cold spot, always see them pop up during cold spells. Impressively, they also recorded -8.4C in April 2021 and -5.8C in May 2021.. not sure if those are records but could well be. What a cold Spring that was. 

Only went down to 1C last night but we did get a frost on Sunday morning, with a temp of -0.8C.

Shap is the N England cold pole, often the coldest spot, though sometimes Redesdale and Spadeadam beat it, and a frost prone hollows in N/E Yorkshire. It tends to be the coldest in slack polar NW and arctic airstreams. Indeed Cumbria as a whole often coldest part of England in such set ups, often clear skies, sometimes in NE flows - sheltered from the wind, but less often the case.

Another widespread air frost, north half of UK. Newcastle currently sitting at -2 degrees.

Colder than all the forecasts predicted. 

Last few days have been significantly below average in the north.

First air frost of the season this morning, down to -1.4°C.

Not as late as last year which was 7th December but still later than the average date of first air frost which is around 4th November.
