The most shocking part about it is the maliciousness of it. In similar cases there's usually some motive behind it, such as destroying ancient trees to make way for HS2, there's an understandable motive there even if it's deplorable. With this case, it's just pure and senseless vandalism for the sake of vandalism. The type that has no motive other than to get a reaction.
