Not really going here yet. I've been out in the garden and there's been the odd big gust, maybe 20kts, but mostly it's much lighter. Certainly not the 20 gusting 37 the met office shows.

Just been out on an errand the wind sounds worse than it actually is though I’m sure that will change as we go through the day

Incessant rain so far, rivers quickly swollen. Also a very dark gloomy day, go slow January Sunday.

Sea temp watch.
The SST at Crosby today is 6.6°C. This is 1.1°C below the long-term January average.
Blackpool and Arnside are 6.5°C and 6.3°C respectively.

That's interesting. I thought SST's are abnormally high this winter...

Currently sat in Maccies in Denton having a coffee, couldn't resist some fries though 😂. Not that bad out there at the moment. I suspect this will change later on as the wind really picks up.

No they've been below average for a few months now. Between 0.5°-1.5° below. Me and @Day 10 have been keeping an eye on them.

Snow melt, frozen ground and heavy rain, not a good prognosis this early in the storm. With the amount or orographic forcing, the Lakes, especially on the Carlisle side could see major flooding issues.

Just went for a walk down the river, it’s invigorating and a bit wet but not yet the scary storm I was expecting.

It looks like it’s going to be an interesting evenings weather, I’d much prefer it 10 degrees cooler.

After being mostly dry for the most part today, the rain has finally arrived. Breezy out, but nothing of any major significance yet. It promises to be a lively evening and first part of the night. Looks like the peak of the winds will be around late evening/midnight here.
